I'm a tall, energetic Australian who loves her food and her cocktails just a bit too much. Lost almost 60lbs back in 2001-2, and have managed to keep it off through nutrition and exercise, but lately there's been a bit of a creep up. So I've reassumed proactive control.

I love running, scuba diving and the natural world. I work in the field of maritime history, collect vintage 1920s clothing and enjoy Art Deco, the Pre-Raphaelites, the golden age of polar exploration, British, Australian and Irish history and art and literature.

My Goals:
To overcome my hyperflexation problem and run a marathon (sigh!), and to stay fit and healthy for the rest of my life.

And to cut down on midweek Mojitos!

My Program:
Calorie counting, exercise, setting goals (e.g. City to Surf race).

Personal Information:
My friends say I tend to act like I'm the offspring of Alice in Wonderland and the Absentminded Professor. I have an unfortunate tendency to lapse into lecture mode, whether the topic be the history and development of the Singapore Sling or the evolution of the British Merchant Navy. I don't take myself anywhere near as seriously as I'm afraid I sometimes sound like I do. I've always followed my own particular lights and shadows, and am lucky enough to have friends and family who have always understood and supported that.

Other Information:
I love literature , and if I hadn't been recruited out of my post-grad studies by a newly-appointed government minister, I'd probably still be kicking around the English lit or History departments of the world. As it is I chased my research dreams to England and beyond, giving up the political job, and I finally returned to the arts community. I write the odd article for specialist publications and have a book in the works.
