Progress comes in different forms. Some progress is easily seen but others are not visible to the naked eye. I have not lost any weight; probably even gained some pounds in the last few months. But I AM making progress. I am turning more readily to tasks I have avoided and am completing those tasks slowly but surely. I have more energy and am able to see the "positives" more easily.

I thought the worst was over for 2016 but the past few months have proven me wrong.
I had to put my beloved Nellie to sleep in May. She had been my constant kitty companion for almost 22 years and it was hard.
My mother became ill with what was diagnosed as a sinus/respiratory problem at the end of July and kept having trouble even with several doctor visits. She went into the hospital in August and was diagnosed with COPD and given only a few weeks to live on August 22 (which was also her 88th birthday). She came home with hospice care on August 24 and passed away on September 22.
I am looking forward to the end of 2016!
Still not making progress but I am beginning to want to move forward.

Not much progress but not much effort either. This has been a rough year and it's time I get over it and move on. Being depressed, overeating, and sedentary is not the life I visualize for myself. I realize I'll never be as mobile and energetic as I was before my injuries but that doesn't mean I shouldn't try!
I've done more today than I have in weeks - cleaning, laundry, putting patio chairs together... at least I've accomplished a few things today. Just taking it day by day...

I wonder where the "old me" has gone. I've been searching for her the past couple of years although I admit that it's been a half-hearted search. Where's the strong person who lost pounds? Who walked 4 or 5 miles every day? Who woke early and attacked the day? Who was happy and positive regardless of what was thrown in her path?
She's definitely not sitting here typing right now!
Yesterday was difficult. I met with family from out of state. I was uncomfortable because I knew they were thinking about how much weight I have regained. (They probably weren't after the initial shock of seeing me - but I was thinking about it!)
I have regained the 100 pounds and more. I can blame a small part of that on a serious accident and slow recovery but that isn't the whole truth. I don't deal well with pain and I've had some level of it for almost a year. My leg and other joints ache so I've found it easier to give up on myself.
It's time to make some serious changes!

My Goals:
To improve my overall health through proper nutritional choices and daily exercise.

My Program:
~ Walk 3000 steps every day (using walker or cane if necessary)
~ 20 minutes of strength exercises twice times per week
~ Cook more - eat less processed foods
~ Complete one exercise video a week.

Personal Information:
Retired elementary teacher living in NE Ohio. Moved into a new condo about a year ago and still haven't finished unpacking boxes in the garage! Have one geriatric cat, Jake, who will be 22 this fall. Spend a lot of time with my elderly mother.

Other Information:
So desperately need to improve my life!!!!

    Sheila: My Sweet friend, I just came across your SP page this morning, I think about you often and wondered if you were still on sp, I miss emoticon , I always loved all the pictures and seeing your Jake and Nellie and Peaches. I do remember you moving to your condo. I'm still around sp, but I haven't been sparking much, me and my DH both had two eye surgery's and other things going on, but we are doing good now. I would love to hear from you if you are still able to get on to SP. You have always been a great encouragement to me.
