Hi There! I checked out the website for the first time 2/21/2011. Something clicked in me that SparkPeople will work for me (and I hope you too).... went to the doctor 2/22/2011 and I decided I want to get back in shape. It's been almost 3 months since I joined and SparkPeople works... losing weight gradually and consistently by keeping track of food and exercise and reading and writing blogs..... Good luck, you can do it! Six month update: well, I've maintained my 20 lb. loss and I am ...
Six month update: well, I've maintained my 20 lb. loss and I am very happy with that. I try to take it a day at a time. I've made the connection between food intake and weight. I realize that managing my weight is done on a daily basis, with awareness and as an act of self-love. I thank all my SparkFriends for your support, encouragement and example. You make all the difference. Because of you, I realize we're all in the same boat and we are leaving the river, "De Nile!" I used to be in denial about the long-term, negative effects of my weight and inactivity on my body and longevity. You've got to want it, and when you decide to, you will! It's all about the messages we tell ourselves, because if you believe it, it is true! One Year Sparkiversary Update: 2/22/2012: So, I gradually lost 20 lbs after joining SP, kept it off for 6 months, then gradually regained 14 lbs... BUT, I am still down 6 lbs. and will remain dedicated to SP. My motto has been one day at a time, in my own way... an intuitive style of listening to my body and trying to honor its needs. I am more aware of what, when and how much I eat, trying to stay close to eating when hungry and only until satisfied. I am exercising more consistently...mostly, trying to love myself daily. This is not a diet but a long-term approach to a healthier lifestyle. This year, I have also been attempting to get a better handle on dealing with my clutter... I am making progress in that area too. So Thank You SparkFriends for sharing your journey. I get strength and inspiration from your blogs. Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. I am still here because of you--practicing mindfulness and compassion.

Just stopped by to say Hello. Hope you are doing well. I'm finally back on the wagon(sparking). Starting out with baby steps until it becomes a real habit, then on to the next item.
