I have always had issues with food/weight since childhood. I'm an emotional eater and have difficulty saying "no" to temptation, especially if it involves chocolate and sweets. I've been on many diets and succeeded in losing many pounds, only to find them again along with a few more. I've exercised, on and off along the way. I've even walked two marathons in 2001 & 2003! But I never seem to maintain a really consistent longterm exercise program. As I've grown older I've found it more and more difficult to lose the weight. The consequences of an unhealthy life style are catching up with me. I'm tired of feeling big, uncomfortable, clumsy, lazy, stiff, and full of aches and pains. It seems I've spent nearly my entire life planning for "when I'm thinner". Then when I've actually accomplished it and said "I'll never do that to myself again", I'm back where I started. I want to lose the weight, once and for all, and actually live my life in the "now". I'm hoping this website will provide support and motivation to keep me on track.

My Goals:
I want to develop a healthy relationship with food, find an exercise program I can enjoy and maintain, and lose the pounds once and for all. No more procrastinating, yoyo dieting, and waiting until "tomorrow" to start living. My SIL just had a heart attack, same age as me! How's that for motivation?!

My Program:
I'm trying to normalize my relationship with food. Walking, elliptical, strength training.

Personal Information:
I'm 60, married, and have two grown daughters in college. I'm a burnt out MSW and now work full-time as an administrative assistant. My husband and I hope to retire in the 5 years and move to Northern Michigan.

Other Information:
I love nature, beaches, walking, hiking, kayaking, gardening, traveling, music, and creating (watercolor and other artsy crafts). Both my husband and I want to "get into shape" to celebrate our 30th anniversary this year and take an active vacation river rafting in the Grand Canyon in the spring of 2009.

I have been off of site for a while but now I am back with full intent of staying and reaching my goal. Talk to you later.
