I've been following the SouthBeach Diet off and on since August 2004. I managed to lose almost 50 pounds while following the program diligently and then managed to regain almost all the weight while not following the program. I restarted again on June 12th 2006 and lost 35 pounds by the end of October. I then switched to a different diet for health reasons and continued losing. by May 2007,I'd lost 54 pounds and more than 40 inches. Unfortunately, I let my old bad eating habits slip back in and then work got really crazy and I was working tons of overtime with no time for exercise. I just hit my lifetime max weight this past weekend, tipping the scales at 234 pounds. I am totally disgusted with myself. My fattest fat clothes are getting tight, and my ankle, knees, back and neck are hurting all the time. It's time for me to motivate and get serious about regaining my health and losing this weight (hopefully for the last time!)

I restarted the SouthBeach Diet on June 6 2010 and restarted my exercise program. I need to regain balance in my life, stop working all the time and take time for myself to exercise and get healthy again.

My Goals:
I would like to reach a healthy weight and maintain it for the rest of my life.

My Program:
I am on the Specific Carbohydrate Diet and I'm also eliminating certain foods that are allowed on that diet but that I am allergic to. My health is improving and I've lost 50 pounds since June 2006. The diet really works well when I stick to it, but the weight piles back on extremely rapidly when I break the diet for a few days to a week. I exercise 5-6 days per week for at least an hour to 90 minutes each time. I lift weights 2-3 times per week and do cardio 5-6 days. On weekends in the summer time I go kayaking with my kids in my new kayak that has foot peddles. That workout is so much fun that we often exercise for 2-3 hours.

Personal Information:
I live in Shalimar Florida (near Destin and Fort Walton Beach) and I am a Systems Engineer for my "day job". I have three teenagers (13, 14, and 17). I also have a home based business that sells supplies for breastfeeding moms, and my husband and I pack and ship internet orders to addresses all over the world. Fitting in the exercise and quality time with the family has been a big challenge with the two jobs.
