My name is sharon and I am 60 years old. I have advanced stages of diabetes and other medical concerns and want to improve my life. I have lost 110 pounds in the last 1 1/2 years but still have 50-60 more to go. I need help. I would love to correspond with anyone, any age. I would like to hear from other diabetics and how the are doing on their weight loss and any complications they have. I would also like to correspond with other grandmother who want to be around to see their grandchildren grow. I have 5 from age 16 to 7 and they are the love of my life.

I'M BACK.....After a few years absence I have returned to Sparks. I have divorced my huband and have moved to Palm Coast, Florida, I am happy here and feel much better about myself.

My Program:
I am going to eat between 1100 - 1400 calories a day. Drink 14-16 glsses of water a day. Eat plenty of fresh or frozen fruits and vegatables. I will only eat whole grain breads and pastas, and eat 3-6 ounces of protein a day. I am going to follow in YOU ON A DIET exercise plan with some SP exercises as well. I on going to think only positive thoughts about my life style change program..

Personal Information:

Other Information:
My goal in life is to help people who are less fortunate than myself. I am disabled but volunteer with Alzheimer patients 3-4 days a week. I like to read but have a difficult time remembering all that I have read so sometimes that is a difficulty. I like to scrape book the lives of my children and grandchildren, so that they will have something to remember me when I am gone. I want to be a significant person in their lives even when I'm gone. Anything else you would like to tell people. Could include things like your favorite books or movies, a quote, anything.

Just popping by to say "hi" wishing you well!!!

Here's some great words of wisdom from Ralph Marston.

    "Make Some Progress

Don’t let what you cannot do get in the way of what you can do. Just get busy, do your best at what you’re able to do, and make a positive difference.

If you focus on all the negative factors that you cannot control, the only thing you’ll get is frustration. Instead, put your thoughts, efforts and energy into the many good and valuable things you can do.

When you feel overwhelmed by your situation, the answer is not to give up. The answer is to get going.

Make some decisions, do some work, and get some meaningful accomplishments completed. Experience how much better it feels to make some progress.

There will always be challenges and distractions. But you can always make the choice to make progress anyway.

Today is your opportunity to end up ahead of where you started. Use this moment, and every moment, to make some progress, and you’ll be making life better and better for yourself and your world."

    Have a great weekend!!!

emoticon Sharon, sounds like you have had a rough go of it. You know the saying "Children step on your feet when they are young, and on your heart when they get older". It is a shame for the grandchildren though. They only know what their parents tell them. As they get older, they hopefully will see the light and decide to contact you.
Just know that you will find friends here that will listen and who will root for your success and happiness.

Sharon I am sure you had to do what you had to do. Don't let this or anything else set you back. I am sure that you can contact your children through snail mail or emails. Be upfront and honest with them and they will see the truth in what you had to do. We here at Sparkpeople are like one big family. Make sure you keep up your posts, use it like a journal. Journal-ling can sure help you through this. I don't know if you have a walk with God but He says He will never put on you more than you can bare!
    Just keep keepin' on!
