When I joined Spark People back in 2006, it was with the high hopes that I had finally found an answer to my life long battle with my weight.

I tracked and exercised and lost over 40 lbs! Unfortunately, life changes happened and I quit tracking first and eventually stopped exercising. And I think you know what happened next. Yes, I gained the weight back!

Over the last few years, my story is the same as many other Sparkers. My weight has been up and down. My weight is finally taking a toll on my health and I have had to go on blood pressure meds. I am very disappointed in myself but I am not a failure as I have never quit trying.

In Oct 2014 I was diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes. I always said my weight was not affecting my health so I was blindsided with my diagnosis. I guess I was in denial. All my poor food choices and lack of exercise finally caught up with me!

My A1C was 7.8 and I was told to lose 40-50 lbs as soon as possible. I took my diagnosis very seriously and began following a low carb/high fat diet and a walking program. The pounds starting falling off. I have now lost 68 lbs and I see my goal weight as a reality.

My A1C is now 5.3 and I am off all my meds so I am hopeful to be at goal when I go to my Doctor in June.

My Goals:
Lose 15 more lbs.

I will also do S/T on Mon, Wed, & Fri.

I will continue to eat under 50 net carbs a day and keep my calories between 1350-1600 calories.

My Program:
I am following a 1200-1400 daily calories and walking at least 7,000 steps a day.

Personal Information:
My name is Sharon and since we retired we downsized to a much smaller home in a manufactured community in Zeeland, MI which is not too far from Lake Michigan. My husband and I just recently celebrated our 50th Wedding Anniversary. We have two grown children and 6 grandchildren. Since we retired in 2008, we do a lot of traveling in our motor home and have been spending our winters in AZ.

Other Information:
My husband and I are retired and love traveling in our Motor Home.

My favorite toy is my computer - I'm addicted, lol.

I enjoy reading - anything!

I have a passion for Cruising!

    I will be doing 100 Days over again too. There is a lot to take in and then to actually do it.

    We couldn't get everybody together on Thanksgiving so I offered to celebrate twice! Cooking turkey for my BF family on Thurs (will be 9 of us) & ham for mine on Sunday (will be 12 of us). I'll have help both days & will be nice to see everybody. They all know to expect something new when they come over, I'm always trying new "healthy" recipes!

    I think that you have found the same as me. Another thing is that if you walk slowly (like around the house) they catch every step.

    I have found that if I walk at 4kph on my treadmill it gets everyone. Take the speed up to 6kph and that is when it misses step.

    I have not tried the other one so I can't comment on it.

    I read your intro "A Spark Rekindled." We all seem to have similar stories & great success with SP!
    Way to go on your weight loss & being halfway to your goal! Doctors results always seem to push us on the right track, I started my journey to better health when my cholesterol was out of control. Remember, we are on this journey together!
