I want to get serious about healthy eating. Having said 'serious', I think it will be an adventure, and hopefully a lot of fun with a lot of great benefits!

I really want to turn around my “eating what I want because it tastes good or is convenient" mentality to that of "eating to live" ... learning more about what my body needs for optimal health and finding healthy and tasty options to fulfill those health needs -- and doing this with the abundance of tasty foods we’re blessed to have!

Hi, fellow Spark People members. This is such a GREAT site!

Here is my plan. I hope I can share with many of you along this journey.

+ Incorporate a lot more whole and home-cooked foods into my diet, and reduce processed foods down to a minimal amount.

+++ Keep busy in the evenings to AVOID UNHEALTHY SNACKING. This is the difficult one for me. I snack out of boredom --- but I know there are so many other, better ways to spend my time.

+ Plan ahead. Planning my meals the day before is really helpful, I have found in the past.

+ Log in to Spark daily to receive motivation and to interact with my fellow Spark'ers.

+ Get back to exercising. With spring here, walking is a good option.

After years of a relatively sedentary lifestyle and WAY too many bags of potato chips and other assorted junk food, and snacking my way through the evenings, I am making a goal to get back on to the right track, and to start looking after my health through nutritious eating & exercise. From some short periods of time when I have succeeded in the past, I believe that Spark People will be a REALLY big factor in achieving success!

In addition to feeling better about myself and improving my health, a huge benefit from being part of the SP community is getting to know many of you along the way. This is really what keeps me coming back to the SP website day after day. I appreciate the openness, honesty, and support of my fellow 'Sparkers'.

I'm happy to have the support of SparkPeople friends, and am looking forward to connecting with people on this site.

My Goals:
Through healthy eating and exercise:

Get to 125 lbs.

My Program:
Plan meals ahead.

Choose fresh and organic as much as possible, within reason.

Cardio min. 3 times a week.

Consider my body's nutritional needs when choosing foods, instead of consuming empty calories.

Eat whole foods, not processed foods.

Min. 8 glasses of water a day.

Interact on SparkPeople daily.

Personal Information:
I live in Canada, and work in a secretarial/admin role. My cat, Roscoe, is curious about everything and makes me smile every day. I'm a Christian, and find inspiration and comfort in the Bible. I love music, reading, patio gardening, finding the humour in everyday situations, and spending time with friends. I love going out for breakfast on the weekend. I'm learning to knit and crochet.

Other interests include online word games, walking (although not consistently enough!), and trying new recipes.

I enjoy interacting with other Spark members -- feel free to add me as a friend if you like!
