Rebecca's Journey
I have been on diets before...this time I'm on this health and fitness journey for the long haul. My goals are to lose weight, too. I hope to shed 35 pounds and see whether that weight loss makes it possible for me to take up jogging again.
Update as of 6/8/17: Life goes on. My weight is around 160. I've battled thyroid issues the past year. My running still continues (albeit at a slower pace). I ran 6 miles this past weekend on my "long" run at a 12:21 pace. Hope to run 8 ...

Update as of 6/8/17: Life goes on. My weight is around 160. I've battled thyroid issues the past year. My running still continues (albeit at a slower pace). I ran 6 miles this past weekend on my "long" run at a 12:21 pace. Hope to run 8 miles this weekend. I have been reading about the inevitable weight regain and how that cycle might be broken. Am considering many options. But I know that without my attention, I'd be much heavier than I am now. I would like to lose 10 pounds by the end of this summer. That, my friends, would be awesome.
Update as of 6/19/14: For the past two years I've been idling between 150 and 155+ pounds, still jogging...ran the Portland Marathon in 2013 in 5 hours 47 minutes . This past running season I've been battling calf injuries...but I ran the Hippie Chick Half Marathon in May in 2:30+.
My goal this year: iget healthy, run half marathons and to lose the weight I've put back on. I've been on South Beach Gluten Free Phase I since June 5 and have lost 3.5 pounds over the past two weeks.
Update as of 10/9/11: Finished Portland Marathon in 5 hours 36 minutes. Weigh 142. Need to work back to goal!
Sept 2011: Finished Newport half marathon in 2:25
7/5/11: Weighing about 5.5 pounds over my goal weight of 135...but have been traveling a lot. Now hope to focus on fitness and getting back to goal over the next two months.
8/13/11 Tualatin 5k Crawfish Crawl in 30:17
6/11/11 Finished the Helvetia Half Marathon in 2:18:15
11/25/10 Finished the GiveNGobble 10k in Sherwood in 1 hour 2 minutes and 50 odd seconds (less about 20 seconds to cross over the start line). Yay me!
9/11/10 I jogged for 10.62 miles in 113 minutes...on my mother's birthday. She would've been 91 this year.
9/6/10 Yesterday I jogged for 80 minutes (around 7.3 miles, I think). I have jogged 9 miles at one time a few weeks ago. My goal is to jog 10 miles w/o stopping before the season for running outside is over. We'll see. I am up to running 4 or 5 times a week when I can.
7/27/10 Weighed in at 139.8 today! My BMI is now officially in the "normal" range. Longest run so far this summer: 68 minutes on Sunday.
7/17/10 I jogged for 56 minutes today. I'm getting much better at jogging longer distances. Most times I jog I at least do the 45 minute loop through town.
6/28/2010 I am making progress adding distance, time and speed to my runs. My longest run has been for 55 minutes..about 5 miles including some hill climbing. I've done that route 3 times. I regularly go on a 4 mile circuit through town, and when I am feeling tired or do other exercise in the day I have a 30 minute loop I do. I am now running 3-5 times a week.
5/24/2010 I ran (er, jogged) in the 5k Rum Run Race yesterday with my daughter. I finished in 31:30, a 10:05 pace. First in my age group! Of course, there were only 4 in my age group. But still...I am enjoying being first.
5/18/10 update. I am still jogging. But I need to watch it or my knees feel twinges. I have run up to 45 minutes at a time (twice this week) and am feeling it. But I am proud of my accomplishments, too.
4/20/10 update. I have been able to jog, but I am trying to balance jogging with studio cycling, walking, and gardening. So far, the gardening is winning this week. My knees feel healthy. Yay!

My Goals:
To find my way back to healthy eating, improve my fitness and lose weight that's crept on the past few years. I also need to find a way to keep that weight off!
My Program:
Execrcise: When I am not traveling I try to make it to three studio cycling classes per week. I also like to take walks, garden and jog 3 times a week.
Eating: I will try to limit my portions and get back to a south beach style carb limiting diet.
Update as of 4/9/2010:
Since I've been home lately, I am exercising about 6 times a week. Studio cycling maybe 3-5 times a week and I've started jogging at least 3 times a week.
Still losing weight slowly...I am eating maybe 1500-1600 calories a day...sometimes more, sometimes less.

Hey.. thanks for stopping by today. I agree... getting into a rut is dangerous too... Mixing it up is something I like to do as well.
Great to "see" you :)

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I have talked to him. I've yelled at him. I have even written him a letter to further get my point across and nothing has changed.
