2015 Update: Job stress, planning a wedding, family drama, and being happy with my husband all led to me gaining a lot of weight in 2014. I''m aiming to get back on track in 2015. April 2011 I had a reality check. I was 25, single, overweight, and not happy about it... so I started to change. After I lost 40 lbs I found SparkPeople and it has kept me motivated to lose more! As a treat to myself I had a brachioplasty in August of 2012. The revision surgery in December 2012 made my left arm fantastic... but the right one -- not so much. its all healed now and I wouldn''t change a thing. I was aiming for 150 when I started (I''m 5''10") but I don''t think I''ll be able to really get there. I''m pushing for 170 realistically, 160 hopefully, and 150 delusionally. My Goals:
Always drink at least 15 glasses of water a day (I'm usually good, but sometimes it slips...)

To be a "oneder" (aka--under 200 lbs) by the end of the year. **Accomplished 12/11

My Program:
I'm eating smart. This doesn't mean no chocolate and only veggies though. I try to balance my calories and meals while eating healthy 85-90% of the time.

I spend a lot of time on my core doing situps and using a balance ball to help prevent my sciatica from coming back (when you have sciatica at 23--you've got issues!). I also try and walk fast on my treadmill a few times a week on at least a 5% incline.

    Sorry to hear about your gain! Summer holidays can do that. I'm sure you'll see a loss in no time. Your wedding is coming up quick and hopefully that will give you the same motivation I'm hoping to get from mine coming up.

    Thanks for the comment! Funny we did not do soda at all, and hardly any fried foods. We would have like, tater tots, once a month maybe. I know they were fried before being frozen & then baked, but that's really it. We never did fried chicken or any of that. And everyone in my family is obese on mostly healthy food somehow. It makes me so mad. hahahaha. I know I should be happy for them, but when other people can just stop drinking soda, cut out fries, & leave the mayo off their sandwiches and drop 60 pounds like THAT, it makes me bonkers mad. I eat really healthy food! I just eat like... 4 people's worth I guess. Ha.

    Yeah, I obsess over helping my kids be healthy. But I don't want to go too far, because I've read all the studies about (and seen plenty of Sparkers too!) when parents make all junk/sweets/whatever foods "forbidden" kids just become hoarders and secret eaters.

    and now a book as well which I'm planning on getting. I like the emphasis on TALKING about why we eat what & how we eat, I think that's part of what was missing for me.

    Along with, like I said, a conversation about WHY my body started storing extra fat from ages 8-12. It was supposed to, and evened out okay around 13-14, but the mental damage was done by then. Sigh.
