When I joined Sparks in August 2007, I had hit a new low in how I felt about myself. Fast forward to January, and I have lost 30 pounds (and counting), created a great plan that is working for me, stayed with it for that long (a first!) and met so many phenomenal people on the boards along the way. A few months ago, I had nowhere to go but up. With Spark's help, I saw that I could do it -- and I am! I still stumble, but the difference now is that I don't view it as failure. It's normal, it's going to happen and it doesn't have to mean "the end." I have been a Type A all my life, and I am working now to find a balance in all areas of my life. It is truly a transformation -- and it is making me happier every day. My main motivator is my husband, who is making this journey along with me. That has made all the difference in my world. So, thanks, to him - and to all of you who continue to inspire me to keep going, and keep moving forward ... and just to keep moving. Period.

My Goals:
This is a beginning ... so these goals will change with time.

1. Feel better. Mind. Body. And soul. Right now, I don't feel like any of those pieces are quite right, and I need to take just one step in a right, and successful, direction.

2. Build back my confidence and self-esteem. Goodness ... from the outside looking in, no one would think that I have issues. But let me tell you about them ... how much time have you got?

3. Wear shorts again. Seems easy, but it's not.

4. Along that same line, I want to get my picture taken. I hate it. My friends have lots of pictures of my fingers, if you know what I mean.

5. Learn to let it go. I have been a Type A my whole life. It can be stressful. If I can't control it, I want to stop worrying about it. Really, it's that simple.

My Program:
It's simple, really. And so far, it seems to be working.

1. What I am doing is NOT called a diet. If I call it that, I am doomed to fail. Period. Every time. So, I am saying I can have anything - in moderation. I'm making a bit more responsible choices and aiming to eat a real breakfast, lunch and dinner instead of one big meal and a bunch of diet pop in between. Ick.

2. Drink enough water. I probably overconsume on this point, but hey, it seems to be helping.

3. Cut out pop. Or most of it. I insist I am addicted to it, even though I guess it isn't exactly possibly. Anyway, I figure one 8-oz. can a day is better than the 3 to 4 I used to put away. Even at the diet soda level, that much is just NO good.

3. Eat at home more instead of out and about. 'Nuff said.

4. Like the billboards and commercials say: DO move my body. I am aiming for treadmill time consistently.

5. Log on to Sparks when I can. I lost 7 pounds just by doing that reg

Personal Information:
I'm a 36-year-old mom to four, count 'em, FOUR fur babies who lives in Minnesota. I have been married nine years and my husband and I are learning to trust and believe in ourselves and in each other. He is my best friend and I just "outed" my weight to him not too long ago. That made my head spin and like it was crushing in on itself -- BUT, it also gave me some motivation to change things. Strange. In any case, he has been on his own journey to get himself together and he is providing me with inspiration to begin mine.

Other Information:
Oct. 7: 10 pounds gone ...Nov. 21: 20 pounds gone ...Dec. 8: first 10% gone ...Jan.9: 30 pounds gone
