Hi! Thanks to your encouragement I've joined Goodreads! It looks like something I will enjoy. I rated 20 books like it said to, and it recommended more for me to read. I can see how the more you rate, the better the recommendations would be. How is your discussion group going?

thanks for your comments on my blog. You mentioned wanting to work on loneliness. My blog was about the love and support I have of family and friends - thank heavens! But, that wasn't always the case. I have a blog about being raised to believe I was a hypochondriac and little to no support from family. In my first marriage we moved 1000 miles away from family and friends and I ended up a fishing and hunting widow and in addition, my husband often worked out of town for weeks at a time. When he was home, he would go out for a beer after work but not come home until 8 or 9. Things went from bad to worse and we divorced. I was a single mom for 20 years. To support us I had a non union job and worked 45 hrs a week one week and 60 hrs the next with evening meetings. I only got paid for 35 hrs a week but knew it was like it or leave. I had no time for relationships or friends - it was all work and my daughter. I had moved back to my hometown but my friends were long gone and my family little support or help - not any support or help, but very little. I was sooo very lonely. When my daughter turned 21 I realized I didn't have to watch out for her in quite the same way now - she was a grown woman. She didn't care for my attitude - I'll always be her Mom and love her more than anything but I didn't have to devote my entire life to her. One day she would leave the nest and I'd be totally alone. I allowed my self to start having relationships, had to give up the demanding job I had and settle for another where the hours weren't so bad. I was fortunate enough to meet the man who is now my husband. We have had the best 11 years together of my life. Nothing is perfect but it's the best I've ever known. He may tune me out sometimes, sometimes a lot, lol, but he's always there when I need him and stands by me. He's become my best friend too. I don't have too many friends still and probably never will have. I have too many medical issues for a lot of people to be comfortable with. Those same issues are very very stressful for my husband and I'm sorry for that but a lot of them have come upon us since we got married and he's rolled with all the punches with little complaint. many would have left. I still feel lonely at times but nothing like the 20 some years I was really alone and very very lonely. I sincerely hope you too can overcome your loneliness

thanks for your comments. No I haven't taken assertiveness training. Some say I'm too assertive as it is, lol. Actually, It's my defense against being shy and lacking self confidence. I look forward to seeing you in the forums as well. Lin
