I joined in SparkPeople in May 2008. So, here I am 4 years later. Through that time I have went up and down, up and down. I get into ruts that are difficult to get out. I get into a mindset where I just don't care. I'm just get to the point where I get so disgusted with myself (how I'm eating, lack of movement, and my appearance) that it kicks me back into gear. The rut always, always begins with the initial decision to eat unhealthy items and eat too much of it. I point out that it is a decision. I have decided to do that. I don't see that at the time. It "seems" to just happen, but it is in fact a decision.

I don't pat myself on the back, hardly at all. But for just this moment, I will. I keep deciding to get back on track. As many times as I feel like I have failed, I truly haven't. The only true fail would be to decide to quit trying for good. I'm learning to forgive myself for not staying on track. I'm learning that not staying on track can be for just one snack, or just one meal, or maybe just one whole day rather that periods of weeks, months or years.

I have had this profile picture for quite some time. That sweet little girl you see is now almost 13 and I have another that is 4 that looks just like the girl in the picture. I also have a 7 week old! Last fall I was 15 pounds from my goal weight, and frequently running when I found out I was pregnant. I vowed that I would stay healthy during the pregnancy so I wouldn't have as much work to do after I had the baby. After a couple of complicaitons I was told that I needed to be cautious and I couldn't even go on long walks. This was a great excuse to go back to my old habits, including eating whatever I wanted. So, here I am on the other side starting over from scratch.

This picture was taken beginning the happiest most peaceful time of my life. Life has continued to get better and more blessed since then, but my appearance has not. I want to live the life I have now with the body I see in that picture.
