Hi! Thanks for stopping by my spark page.

A little about me: I am 45 years young, married, with adult children (2 sons). One no longer lives at home, the other is getting ready to move away to finish his last 2 years of college. I am so NOT looking forward to having an empty nest. I work full time (spending the majority of my day sitting) and try to stay active outside of work. I enjoy spending time with my family, hiking, camping, kayaking, float trips, pretty much anything that gets me outside. I do crafts, enjoy reading and love to travel...especially to a beach!

I had always been slender until around mid to late 2003. I started putting on a few pounds here and there but didn't really worry, because it's always been so easy to lose in the past...a few pounds turned into ALOT of pounds....for a grand total of 80+. Going from a size 4-6 to a 14-16 was hard on me, not only physically, but emotionally. It's not like I was just laying around on the couch eating bon bons either...I was staying active (just not active enough with an extra 80 pounds on me). I finally realized that at my age (yep, those late 30's) the weight is harder to get off than before.

So after a year or so of being depressed and hating the way I looked and felt, I joined weight watchers. I did WW from Nov 06 until April 08 and lost around 30 pounds, but gained some of it back. I would like to lose another 50 pounds. I had originally hoped to be rid of this extra weight before I turned 40, but that didn't happen. It's been a roller coaster for several years now...lose a little, gain a little. I've had my fill of that, but have nobody to blame but myself. I refuse to give up, though!

I also found out in June 2007 that I have Hashimotos thyroiditis and since I have been taking meds I feel better, although, I still have a ways to go to get back to 100%. This just adds to the difficulty of losing weight, but I'm not giving up. I am on my second endocronoligist and LOVE her. She is very aggressive and considers how I feel, not just my lab levels. I found out in August of 2008 that I am also insulin resistant, so that just adds one more strike against me losing weight. I think I finally have all of my meds regulated and as long as I stick with it, I will see a smaller me again.

I am hoping SP will give me extra support, motivation and advice, along with a few challenges that will boost my weight loss. I am a positive person (most of the time) and a little on the sarcastic side sometimes. I love to talk about my boys (who are just my eyes try to be helpful and encouraging to others. Looking forward to making some new friends and seeing the changes in myself and everyone else as we journey towards the slimmer, healthier us.

2. Track all food on WW etools

3. Drink at least 8 cups of water each day.

4. Run at least 3 days per week. Walk for 60 minutes on non running days.

5. Use stability ball and resistance bands for toning at least 3 days per week. Add hand weights in a couple of times a week for strength training.
