Hi, friends:
I am 58 and 6-feet tall. I have been skinny most of my life around 155-165 - until about 49 when I quit smoking and gained an immediate 20 pounds. A series of medical challenges added the rest and I swore I would NEVER weigh more than 200. Well, once I topped 200, I felt so defeated and it was so much more difficult to be active - I just gave up and packed on another 15 pounds. Now, here I am at 229 pounds and I have a goal to return to my "youth weight" in the 170's.

This is my second SparkAttempt. I first started in early 2008 - worked the program so well and lost only 8 pounds in 4 months. Worse was that I was so TIRED all the time and my bones hurt, I was depressed and anxious at the same time, and my fat around my middle kept getting bigger. My doctor sent me fort test after test and - long story short - I am very low estrogen with low iron and low Vit. D. I had a hysterectomy 6 years ago and never made the connection to my weight gain. I started estrogen and supplement treatment 4 weeks ago and WOW - I am already feeling so much better. And - the interesting thing is that the fat that gathered around my middle (very unusual for my past and my body shape) is reducing naturally without any loss of pounds. THIS really motivates me.

I am an above-knee amputee (since I was 19 from bone cancer) but I don't let it stop me much. I just was fit with the most amazing micro-processor knee and walking is so much safer and natural. Just bought a treadmill for cardio since most cardio exercises are just too hard for me with my other bad knee that has a torn meniscus.

I love gardening, restoring our120-year old house in South Jersey, doing mosaic, eBay-ing, reading, and my family. I am newly in love with our 26-month old grandson, Jackson - I have a photo attached. I am married to Rob - smartest, most adorable man I have ever known - an entrepreneur with a capital E.

We have a fat, lovable cat, named Latte. We love the Lord, Jesus Christ above all else - and I am certain that God is inspiring me to be the best "ME" I can be so that I am ready to do His will.

I WILL be slim and sexy at 60 - with this program and the encouragement of all of you. Looking forward to meeting many of you...while I become fit and fabulous!

Fitness Minutes: 1,840

My Goals:
To be fit and fabulous at 58. I want to lose 50 pounds by July 2009. I NEED to improve my endurance walking with my prosthesis, to be able to fully participate in my later years and see my Grandson, Jack, grow up. I want to remain independent.

My Program:
Eating fresh vegetables (mostly greens), nuts, seeds, andfruit, with proper pH balance and LOTS of alkaline water. Stopped meats, dairy, most grains, coffee, soda, and sweets. Do treadmill 2 days a week (shooting for 30 minutes a day) and weight strength routine twice a week. Sleep 7-8 hours and get some SparkPoints every day.
