When I first joined back in 2007, I was primarily using SPARKPEOPLE to see how I was doing with my nutrient intake. I was trying to see if I was getting all by body needed by eating a low fat, plant based vegan diet.

I look forward to making new friends here. It helps so much to see the pages of other people who have accomplished their goals and follow the progress of those trying to reach their goals like myself.

My goal is to lose 50 pounds.

My Goals:
Lose 40 pounds (25 down!)
Round 2 Starting 8/2/15: Lose 64 lbs (lost 20)
Round 3 8/9/17: Lose 50 lbs

Eat lots fruit and vegetables - 9 or more servings a day.

Group strength training classes at least 3 days a week.

Weight lifting 4 days a week

Track food and exercise everyday!

My Program:
Eat between 1200 and 1550 calories a day.

I believe that eating a low fat and plant based diet is optimal but somedays I struggle with being 100%. I eat lots of fruits, veggies, whole grains, legumes and watch my calories and fat intake.

My biggest passion is running. When I first started, I was in a neverending cycle of shin splints. Then I tried running on grass and it has made a world of difference! I wish I had more freedom but I'm also happy that I found what works for me. On the days I don't run, I like to make circuits in my living room and watch tv while doing them. I have a few Jillian Michaels DVD's but I get really bored with them.

Personal Information:
I am 47 years old and 5 foot 4 and 1/2. I'm married and have two awesome girls, ages 20 and 18. We have a 9 year old black lab named Ben whom we all adore! I currently live in Sacramento, CA.

Other Information:
I really love learning about health and nutrition. I was 18 years old when I read the book "The McDougall Plan" and became passionate about health and nutrition ever since. I find that tracking my calories and eating the most nutrient dense foods I can really works for me. Some of my favorite books are by Dr. John McDougall, Neal Barnard, and T. Colin Campbell.

I love being in nature and going on walks and hikes. Gardening, birds, and makeup! :)

Not to worry it is not a steep grade at all almost flat but it is easier to move along. I here you about the downhills and knees. I have to be careful on some of these streets and am working on strength for my knees. emoticon

LOL, I remember when I figured that out to. Sorry your all the way over in Sac but that is ok. For the B2breakers you will need to be able to do a large hill. Hayes street is about 5 blocks of climb and then the rest of the race is downhill. The race is a little over 7 miles long. So if you can do 9 on flat ground you should have no problem. emoticon

How many calories you consume also depends on how active you are during the day. I only spend 4 hours a day sitting (one in morning, one in afternoon, two at night), thanks to my one-year-old! All other hours I am running errands and doing chores. One hour a day I workout- which is running 5k three times a week. With this lifestyle, I consume 2000-2200 calories and maintain at 120! Losing weight, I would consume 1600-2000. Spark People always underestimated my required calories and that's why I went under my goal weight! Once again, it depends on how active you are during the day. Most importantly: if you are hungry, EAT (good wholesome foods, of course)! Great to meet you!!!

Thanks for the add! If I could go from 220 and sitting on the couch to running a 5k, anyone can! I love your program and your enthusiasm for Spark People. Keep it up and you'll be there in no time! Keep in mind that on days you run, you need more than the 1200-1300 calories. I reached my goals by eating no less than 1500. All bodies are different, but make sure you're always getting enough! Good luck and I look forward to hearing about your success!!!
