It's a group that originated from rhe Map My Run app of runners that joined a year long challenge to run 1017 km for the year. Little did I know at the time that these people would help me push my running goals. I decided to order the finisher medal and t shirt because I'm currently at 970 km for the year. I WILL finish!!Today I completed a running challenge for the year with 34 days to spare. Feels so good to be able to accomplish this!I'm reading "Food Can Fix It" by Dr. Oz. I firmly believe this paragraph.Had to take advantage of a 50º December day in Wisconsin by going for a run keep moving spark peeps! For everyone struggling on their journey...That's just what I'm gonna do.Lunch time: Grilled chicken tenders over a bed of baby arugala and spinach with pecans, craisins and cheese with a splash of seasoned rice vinegar. Yum!Enjoying some Saturday morning coffee in my new mug, which is a non-food reward to myself. ☕I'm off to go run in an Ugly Sweater 5k. I realize my flipbelt doesn't match, and this outfit isn't exactly ugly...bit I don't do ugly, and I need a place to keep my phine and keys! 🤣🤣🤣
Have a great weekend Sparks!Managed to get 4 miles in tonight after a much needed rest day yesterday. Since I've been on using spark people, i have realized that not just my body needs exercise, but so does my mind. Cheapest anti-anxiety/depression prescription you'll find.Always remember this! One reason I actually like going to the doctor is to see my stats.
✔Blood pressure is on point
✔cholesterol is in check
✔heart rate is greatDo you realize numbers dictate just about every decision we make? Weight, calories in and calories out, our salaries, our purchases, how much your house is worth...the list is endless. Numbers do NOT define you. They can help you make decisions but they will never define you. Determine what numbers are holding you back from living your life to the fullest and let them go. They will suffocate you.If your looking for an effective home workout, here is a sample of a 12 week workout program that my trainer created. Set your timer for 5 minutes. Go through each of these moves and recommended reps as many times as you can in those 5 minutes. It's a pretty great program that builds your core strength.Must prepare for Christmas Cookie consumption!!!!Officially logged 701 miles of running for the year. Right: fall of 2017
Sparkpeople was with me the whole time. Yes, it's been a slow ride, but that is how habits are formed.
#makingprogressWe've all heard of swear jars, but this year I'm implementing a running jar. For 2018, I'm going to reward myself $1.00 for every mile I run. Last year I ran over 700 miles. What a great way to save myself some money!
#nonfoodrewardsPosted a photoAnd imagine if you spoke kindly to yourself...For too many years, this was me. Not any more. Eat right and move more.Today kicked off a 3 month challenge at the local gym. 3 members per team with new challenges each week. Should be fun! I couldn't let my team "Herd of Turtles" down. Today's workout for me was interval trainng. Hoofta!Posted a photoA little extreme, but funny. Get after it friends. You've got this!!Might be a little violent so early in the morning, but get after it friends. Make today's efforts count, and show Wednesday who's really in charge!Just a little more Wednesday humor 😁My runs the last couple of days have been tough. Tight hamstrings from my strength training is definitely a factor, however the saying on this shirt is what motivates me. Many souls to crush.
#soulsarethegoals 😁You can see how thrilled I am to workout on the elliptical. I got my shirt from a co-worker that sums up my outlook on exercise, "You can sparkle, I'm gonna sweat." And sweat I did. Move those bodies, peeps!Just a little Friday funny for you. When in doubt, I listen to Andy Grammar...perfect lyrics right hereWell, I caved and had a donut hole and cookie, but considering the amount of walking modeling requires, I feel like it was ok and its.not like I eat them everyday. That's really what it's about right? Learning how to balance it out.I love gifting myself with motivational, non-food rewards. My 2018 fitness journey is off to a great start. I've got 73 out of 1018 km out of the way with 349 days to go. I enjoy pushing myself physically. I would have never been able to do any of this 90 lbs ago. Not only do I reap the physical benefits, but more so the mental benefits. A good sweat session clears my head, and I sleep so much better at night.Mid-winter thaw is here in the north! 42ºF, sun and no need for coat! 😎Yesterday I finally got a professional gait anaylsis while running. I had no idea how overpronated my landing was. Gave my new Altra Provisions a test run this morning and I am amazed at how they feel. 7 Mile Saturday in the books. Have a great weekend everyone!Posted a photoHave a healthy Sunday everyone.
I'm heading out to get uncomfortable at the gym. 😁🏋👟🏃I needed fresh air this afternoon so I took a 3 mile walk around town because tomorrow we are forecasted up to possibky 15 inches of snow! But, you know you are from Wisconsin when a 43ºF January thaw leads to lawn chairs and grilling. I may have to back to the house that was grilling chicken. It smelt so good!
#getoutsideWhen the sky gives you 8 inches.of snow (and it's still coming down) you make a snow angel! Lol
#getoutsideA friend posted this on Instagram today and the message resonated through me and I felt I had to share since what we do is track our intake and output here on spark. If you track everything as accurately as possible, your body's journal should match it.For those struggling with commitment to their health...I think it's official. I run better than I paint. It was fun and relaxing though.Today's lesson: Tiger Balm patches don't stay stuck after 8 miles. Have a healthy day, peeps! Its been a stellar year so far. Working toward and crushing goals which leads to new goals. I've never felt better, which makes living a healthy life more rewarding. I've done, and so can you! #90lbsgoneI live for lunch time some days. Today was no exception. Baked Parmesan Asparagus and Salmon.Today's little 3 miler brought me to a monthly total of 90.5 miles, and that much is saved up in my run jar. This is a huge deal for me. 2018 is a gonna be EPIC!
#motherrunner #halfmarathoner #13point1 #longlivetheturtlesI asked the Magic 8 Ball if my Spark friends are going to crush February, and it said YES!! Let's show those goals who's the boss this month, peeps!Posted a photoHad to play a mental game with myself to get this done today. Felt great.I hear a lot of comments from people that they wish they had my motivation to exercise. The thing is, its my routine.i love (crave) routine. If I sway from my routine, I feel lost. Mon-Fri, I go work out as soon as I punch out from work. It's just what I do. Try putting it in your routine, and see how it changes your life.I've been participating in a challenge at my local gym for the last 4 weeks. My team, Herd of Turtles, has been able to maintain first place every week. I have a pretty awesome team!! 🐢🐢🐢
8 more weeks to go!
#longlivetheherdSo, I'm totally reminiscing today. My son will be 22 in 2 weeks and going through old photos and this one of him in my prom dress from 1991(as confirmed by the big hair) just makes me giggle to this day. I called him little Chiquita banana boy.
So, who wore it better? HahahaIf I could afford it, I would buy all my Spark peeps one of these!Fitness gains, that is. This made me think of you and your #beastmode @GPALMER29 😉Balance. That is how I live now. I went to dinner with my family tonight to celebrate my dad's 74th birthday. I didn't eat the best and had a couple adult beverages but I'm NOT beating myself up for enjoying myself. I eat clean a lot more than I don't, and run, I bike, I strength train. Sparkpeople has taught me not to diet and live in disgust with myself, but to live healthy and confident. After last night's celebration, I knew today's run was going to be a struggle. But since I'm bullheaded, stubborn, and maybe a little crazy, I managed to get 9 miles under my belt. I wanted to go longer but my mind said, "Girl, you've already proven your determination. Good job...now go take a nap!" And so I listened. 😁Felt like having a bowl of "hearts" ❤Hey @GPALMER29 I played with my camera during my workout today too. Side-plank selfie = extra core workout. Now that was a challenge! LOLFinally got outside for my first outdoor run of the year. Finally hit 44º F here so I had to take advantage of the thaw. Puddle jumped a fair amount, but it was so much better than the treadmill!
#getoutsidePosted a photoI cannot stress this enough! Food is fuel. All day, after leg day.Pre and post 11 miles this morning. I started playing with hydration/fuel so I don't bonk during my race. I think I found some winners. No upset tummy, and I can still smile!Posted a photoMommas, don't let your babies grow up to be cowboys, or lions, but instead physics and math gurus! My bouncing baby boy is 22 yrs old today (half my age)! And quite honestly, I'm the healthiest I've ever been in HIS life. I am looking forward to being able to get on the ground and playing with my grandchildren someday. Here is to healthy living!! Have a great day everyone!I had a pity party of one today because we had an ice storm over night which ruined my plans to drive 1 1/2 hours to celebrate my son's birthday with him. In the past I would have eaten my frustrations, but not anymore. I took my new kicks out of their box for a test run. 4 miles of interval training, weight training and core followed by tons of stretching later, I feel better about today's circumstances.Posted a photoI think I was possessed when I signed up to run both, yes, both the 5k and the 10k in April. After I hit "submit" I panicked and thought, "OMG, what did I just do!?!?"Posted a photoCan anyone send Wisconsin some green? I'm SO sick of winter!!! About 4-5inches of more white showed up overnight. I'm ready for shorts and flipflops!!I finally got to visit my son and celebrate his birthday. I even took some time to visit Grandad's Bluff and take in the views of the upper Mississippi River Valley. Such a spectacular view...one I just cannot get enough of!I finally got my hands on some photos from my son's wedding in October. He's my pride and joy and she is the daughter I have always wanted. They are one reason I am dedicated to my own health. Had I stayed 90lbs heavier, my smile would not have been this joyous on his wedding day. 💖 #loveyourselfGot some new running goodies to go along with my new Altra running shoes.
🏃🏃🏃I crossed the 300km line today! 718km to go!!Ok Spark friends, here are the professional photos of my modeling gig back in January for my Daughter-in-law's place of employment. Never in a million years would u think I'd be a "model!" This is a good motivator to keep me fit and active.Today was tough to get into the mindset of interval training. But I knew what i had to do and put aside my dread. It's all mind over matter, and I got it done.I was aiming for 11.5 miles today, but stopped a little short due to my socks were rubbing wrong. Even so, I'm feeling more confident that I'm not going to die during my half marathon in May.Yep, ate the whole pint. And I don't feel one bit guilty.
#itsallaboutbalanceDrove through my old "neighborhood" after choir practice tonight just in time to capture a beautiful spring sunset. Views like this make me miss living on the farm.Got a little 4 miler in of increasing inclines today. It was tough since I've pushed my rest day from Monday to tomorrow, but knowing I had a 1 hour massage after my workout made it bearable. I did have to apologize to my masseuse for the excess sweat. Lol.
(The hand sign is for my #purplecobras running team so they know I'm not slacking).I got to spend today at Mall of America and IKEA with my Sister-in-law and nieces. The highlights were having lunch at The Rainforest Cafe, finding an awesome lamp, and being told by some random lady that she liked my jeans. She said they were my perfect fit. For those who struggle with jeans shopping, you may understand my giddiness upon hearing this. Oh, and I still got over 14,000 steps. Win win!Got out for my second puddle jump of the year. It was a little breezy, but the sun and fresh air are just what this girl needed. #getoutsidePosted a photoI set out for my third outdoor run of the year. Needed to prove to myself that all of my treadmill training wasn't for naught. This 9 miles was hard, but it was already easier compared to last year at this time. As much as I don't like hills, I think flat courses are harder to maintain pace.Transformation Tuesday:
Yesterday I was lifting weights at the gym and as I walked past the large mirrors I caught my own eye. I sometimes still don't recognize myself. As I'm training for my race in May, I have lost another 5 lbs making my total weight loss 95lbs. It is hard for me to realize that I was that large 12 years ago. When you start to question if this journey is worth it....remember this. And the answer is OF COURSE it is worth it!!! Look how far you've come, not how far you have to go!I hit a running milestone today. My 9.72 mile run got me to 400 I'm for the year for my challenge. Last year I hit 300 km on March 29th! I've also managed to move into the top 5% from 8% at the beginning of the month. This week's challenge: Find time to get 21.1 miles of running in so I can round the month of March out with 100 miles. Between work, church choir commitments due to Holy week, and a funeral that I have been asked to sing for thrown into the mix, it will be just as mentally challenging as it will be a time management, and physical challenge. I can do it, but I need to get off Spark!I'm glad I got a little run in this morning to calm my nerves. Today was an emotional roller coaster, as I was said good bye to my friend, Ken. I was honored to siing one of his favorite songs, Ave Maria, at his funeral. I could sense him with me as I somehow stayed strong through the song. And as I turned the mic off, the flood gates opened and wept like a baby. I'm gonna miss him.I cannot believe I pulled 11.5 miles out of my burnt out, emotionally and physically exhausted body this morning to round out the month at a total of 100 miles of running. With the week I had, I only thought I had maybe 3 miles in me today. Thanks to some amazing friends, both here in spark and in my life that motivate me. Now I need a nap.I had to giggle. Though in reality that is what my skin looks like after too much sugar this weekend. Not to mention I feel disgusting. Back to clean eating!!My bike is sad that we just got another 8 inches or so of fresh white junk. She just wants to go for a ride...and so do I!!
I'm trying to #getoutside 😁My ego is a little bruised this morning. I was signed up for double header races today, a 10k followed by a 5k. I decided to listen to my body (which is hard to do when the mind is ready) and cancel my races. I pushed myself too hard last week and have been dealing with a flair up of arthritis in my already reconstructed knee. So to prevent further injury, I have sidelined myself. I'm working in strengthening my quads and hamstrings so my patella stays in line ad not to cause more inflammation.I finally got to run outside today in 50 degree weather! It felt so good to have fresh air in the lungs.
#IgotoitsidePosted a photoSo, there's this...
I guess I'll take an unscheduled rest weekend. 😢I thought I was seeing things, but alas, it really was a tractor pulling a boat in the snow. We Wisconsinites sure know how to make light of a ridiculously heavy April snowstorm. Going on day 3 of this beast, with more snow to come. Ugh...When your trying to stay under your daily calorie budget, but your stomach reminds you it wants more...
#truestoryYesterday was a good day, except for my favorite treadmill at the gym. I've completed 300 miles of running so far this year, (most of which were on this treamill). As some of you know, I have a run jar that I am paying myself $1 per each mile I run. YIPPEE!! And after dinner with coworkers last night, I saw a photo op of the horizon past sunset. Not only did I #Getoutside today, I even had to take my hoodie off and bared my shoulders to the sun. It felt amazing!! I walked to the gym to lift weights and then walked down the bike trail. So now that this training run is done, please give me all the food..and pillows...and Epsom salt. 14 days until race day. 😲Took "Stella" for our first ride of the year. The river is rising from all the snow melt causing a really strong current at the Tressel. We witnessed a dozen turtles sunning themselves along with a lot if very white humans catching some rays as well. Spring is finally in the air.I may have "slightly" ate off budget tonight, but when your parents ask you to chaperone them in their 52nd Wedding Anniversary, you humbly accept your responsibility. Finding balance and making memories is what this journey is about. The annual spring flood thinks I should train for a triathlon, but I forgot my swimsuit on my run today. Until the water goes down, I'll have to find another (less scenic) route. #IgotOutside!I took a nice walk tonight on our local bike trail. It feels so good to have winter finally behind us, and to hear the birds and frogs.4 days until my second half and I'm reminded how bad taper week sucks!! I have been a big ball of nerves between work and tapering that I feel I need the mental ward ASAP! And I want to eat everything I can get my hands on too. 😲Apparently, pent up energy is explosive. Mile 1 was the fastest I have ever run an outdoor mile In my life...and it felt AmAzInG! 😎Flat Kat is ready to crush 13.1 miles tomorrow!Well, I finished my second half marathon! It was warm and I overheated a little. Walked more than I wanted but I still achieved a personal best. It was an amazing race and the views from the 11 bridges that we had to cross captured the beauty of the city and provided much needed breezes. I took advantage of the sprinklers and what shade I could find. I may have grumbled a few times, but I'm already excited to run again next year. #IgotoutsideTonight I walked out my post race sore legs and then entertained my love/hate relationship with the foam roller. I had to sport my new shirt from the race event. It's a list of all 11 bridges we crossed. I'm still impressed that I had the determination to push through yesterday.

#imstillsoreI am a wellness champion at work where my role is to help promote employee wellness in my department. I just learned the May is Bike month! So I thought I'd promote wellness to my Spark buddies! What better time and way to #getoutside! The race pictures are in from my half marathon on Sunday and I am pleasantly surprised I don't look like death. Top left was about 1 1/2 miles in and my cousin and his wife caught up to me and we had a nice little chat on enroute.😃 Top right and bottom left were somewhere in the middle of the race and the bottom right was the final tenth of a mile. I somehow found energy to catch air!The best gift this mom could have on Mother's Day is watching her only child walk across the stage and receive his diploma! Super proud momma moment!! I hope all of the mom's out there (and all the dads who have pulled double duty) had a fantastic Mother's Day!One month ago there were 2 feet of fresh snow on the ground. Yesterday we hit 82º. I'm having a hard time adjusting my pace to the warmer temps but I'm still getting it done. Plus the new batch of state birds (aka, mosquitos) do help keep you moving along or they will eat you alive!Today was not my typical rest day. I rose to the MURPH challenge with a friend today. We did live to smile about it! The challenge consisted of running 1 mile followed by 100 situps, 200 pushups, 300 squats and running another mile. My legs are wobbly and I can't lift my arms. Lol...how am I supposed to help my son move this weekend?Posted a photoProactively working off weekend graduation party celebrations.Spent the morning hiking about 4 miles of bluffs along the Upper Mississippi River Valley. The gorgeous views made up for the hot, humid, and buggy adventure.I needed these over the holiday weekend. 🤣🤣Earlier this year I set several challenges for myself. One of those was to pay myself $1 per mile that I run this year. 5 months in and my run jar has $412.50 in it. 💰Starting June out on the right foot. 30 miles on the bike today.
#getoutsideGot a glorious 8 mile run in this morning with overcast skies and 55ºF. It felt good to get that in and chisel off some stress I've been dealing with.I'm shaking my head at myself because it's only 5 days into June and I almost have May's total biking miles beat, and have already beat March! 🤣🤣
I absolutely love getting outside this time of year!Got my 4 1/2 mile run in to celebrate Global Running Day!! I dodged the Carnies. Whew..I don't want to be kidnapped and be forced to join their circus! The Tiger Swallowtail. 30 yrs ago tomorrow, this beauty first appeared to my family at my sister's funeral. It appeared for the second time on what would have been her 17th birthday, June 28th. Every summer since, we are greeted by this beautiful creature. It brings a smile to my soul. I was able to capture this picture on my bike ride last week. 💕🦋When I was raising my son, money was tight so I never spent any on myself. Money is still right but I'm not in charge of feeding and clothing another human anymore so I bought myself some dresses tonight. It feels really good to walk in a dressing room and walk out happy too!Yesterday I received this badge for running 700 km for the year so far. I participated in this running challenge last year and received this badge on July 30th. I'm well ahead of last year, and I could not be more thrilled. Thanks to everyone of my Spark peeps who keep encouraging me to push myself! Believe in yourselves and you can accomplish anything!I took a much needed "mental health day" off from work today. I've been needing to just do me for a while so I got a good mot ing run in followed by and impromptu pedicure date with my mom. Sometimes we have need to take care of ourselves, relax a little, and reflect what makes us happy. #deepthoughtday #meday #memorieswithmomI got my first kayaking in for the year this afternoon. It was so peaceful. The water like glass. My friend, Tracy, and I paddled up to the shallow north end and saw bald eagles, geese, ducks, a crane, a fox and a pair of very noisy sand cranes. Nothing beats being out in nature. #getoutsideMy dad dropped off the first pick of fresh strawberries this morning. I cannot wait to dig in!I wasn't really feeling my run tonight, but stopping here and there to take pictures of the flood from last weekend's torrential downpour in northern Wisconsin made it semi-entertaining. In the forefront of the picture you can barely see the railing along the sidewalk that marks the actual bank of the Chippewa River. And it's still on the rise!A little "night before a race" fuel. Trying out my new copper grill mat.Rock the Riverfront 2018 10k is complete. I didn't set a PR and it got warm, but it was a beautiful day and a beautiful run. Even stopped at the farmers market and got some garden goods. Thank you @SLYDE-GLYDER for the message of good vibes this morning. It made my day!!!After my race this weekend I decided I need to work more on speed/hill work. So...tonight this buttercup sucked it up and sprinted up and down a nearby hill for a total of 3.10 miles. My legs were still heavy from the race. I think my face says it all about how I felt tonight. But it is done...and I'll do it again, hopefully stronger too.Closing out the first half of 2018 with these crazy challenge stats:
Ran - 490/800miles (61% of goal)
Biked - 440/800 miles (55% of goal)
Thank you @B_RAZORSHARP for accepting and pushing me along through this challenge. 6 months to go We got this!!Last night I got to wear one of my new dresses I gifted myself for keeping off 95 lbs with consistent diet and exercise. It feels so amazing to feel good in my skin. I'm proof that if you put in the work, you will reap the benefits. Keep working toward your goals my friends. It may be difficult, but so worth it in the end!!I celebrated Independence Day this year running the 7 mile Speedy Eity today. This race is put on by the family of a former doctor. He worked within the hospital system I work for who and an avid runner who passed away from cancer. It was a small, fun, friendly, family oriented event and I'm happy I did this race.Oh My Gosh! You all have made my heart swell! I'm honored to be considered a motivator. I am proof that you can lead a balanced, healthy and active lifestyle. Never settle for less than you deserve. You have one body...treat it well!Heading on vacation for a week and have no excuse not to get some exercise in. Kayaks, bike and running gear all loaded up and ready to roll! Have a great weekend and week ahead peeps! #GetOutside 🛶🚴♀️🏃♀️🌞Made it to the lake. Let the adventures and shenanigans ensue!
#thegreatoutdoorsRan 3 miles from one lake to another and 3 miles back today. Vacation agrees with me 😎.Finding time to get some exploring/exercising in amidst copious amounts of relaxing on the lake. @B_RAZORSHARP I do know how to observe rest days. 🤪While the rest of my family did their own thing this morning, I found a nature trail along the Namekagon River and ran my first ever trail run. It was a different and fun new challenge. I might be hooked and want to find another trail before vacation is over. This afternoon, I went tubing behind my brother's boat. I have not done that (or felt comfortable doing that) in years!! Can't wait to see what adventures await me tomorrow. It's my last full day of fun in the sun in the great northwoods of Wisconsin. I didn't realize just how much I needed to get away from the everyday stresses of life. I've gotten to enjoy opioid amounts of relaxation, some reading, running, biking, sunrises and sunsets. I hope you all have the opportunity to take time in your lives to relax and not stress about trivial life circumstances too!One of best parts of summer is fresh, local produce.Halfway through this Burpee Challenge and it is challenging now. Wowzers! It's true. Sometimes I went out to have an epic run, and it doesn't go according to plan. But whatever....today doesn't define me or my journey. When your day doesn't go as planned just know that it is OK!! Spark on peeps!!Yep. I bought myself a hula hoop yesterday! Who said core workouts couldn't be fun? 🤪Got a decent Saturday morning run in after a few hours of work. I'm trying really hard to keep my renewed attitude from vacation. I'm not going to put so much stress on myself to push too hard. I'm relearning how to relax and be present in the moment...even if it's in the middle of a run. 😁 #enjoythejourneyTook a little bike ride this morning and took a walk along the sandbar at the trestle. I managed to get one photo of a butterfly before the mosquitoes ate too much of me. So I came home, relaxed and read a little in my hammock, surrounded by citronella candles. (I may have even taken a little nap.)Today I got lost, but what an adventure it was! I finally ran some trails ive been wanting to for 3 years! I wasn't shooting for high mileage...more around 3 miles, but ended up with 6 under my belt instead. Felt great!!I'm a little disappointed...not with my run from yesterday, but for some reason my Garmin isn't connecting to Spark. I've reauthorized it about a million times and it keeps telling me there is an error. 😥 #techsupport help!!Today's run got me this badge in one of my running challenges. Even though I had a low mileage month in July, I'm still just shy of 3 months ahead from last year (received this badge on October 28th last year). I'm shooting to complete the challenge by month's end with only 112k to go!Heading down for day 3 of dancing at the local Blues Festival. It feels so good to feel this healthy and alive!!Tonight was hot and humid, but I got another 10k done. I'm determined to run 90km more this month and close out my YVSTY challenge. But I won't stop there. I've almost got $600 saved in my run jar so far. I'd like to hit $1000 by year end. #goalsTonight's view during my run. Views like this make running in humidity worth it.I went out to dinner last night with friends, and this was the view of the valley from our seats. Beautiful atmosphere, scenery, and excellent meal. Now I will work it off today! Live happy, active, balanced! Happy weekend peeps!Thank goodness for gym memberships and treadmills. This heat and humidity is getting to me. If I waited for the optimum run time according to the weather channel app, I would have to run after bedtime! 62km to go to finish the challenge. I think I can do it in the next 16 days!!
#stayinside 😁Some days those minutes are torture. But if you do the time, you get the results! Keep at it friends! No one said this was going to be easy, but it is SO worth it!!Unlike most years, I haven't given up on my New Year's Resolution yet! This has been one of the most motivating goals I've ever set for myself. How's everyone else's resolutions holding up?
#runjarfunjarToday's fuelThis afternoon I ran to the gym to lift weights, and then ran home for a total of 2.42 miles. 49km (about 30 miles) left to beat the year yet this month.I took advantage of the mid-60 degree weather this morning and got a great run in. Then I stopped a sunflower maze on my way to go shopping this afternoon. #GetOutsideHeavy, heavy legs today. I did, however, sneak into the top 4% of my challenge with this run. I think I'll rest now until Saturday, when I race with the planes.Running along a runway is pretty fun! Taking 1st place in my age group was more fun! #getoutside #itsabird #itsaplane #itsaWINI really did finish! I think I'm still on a high of winning my age range of old hens. It was just such a great day. Best of all was seeing my son being so proud of me when he cheered me on into the finish. This is why I lost 95 lbs. So my son could see that you can do anything you put your mind to. We all have struggles and barriers, but if we want it we can get it! Have a wondrous Sunday my friends!!I set out a goal to beat the year by the end of this month. More importantly, I set out to beat the year before @B_RAZORSHARP . ✔ and ✔ 😁🤪🥇🏃♀️Unlike most of the country, it was beautiful here today. High of 70°F and partly cloudy, even my weather app said to get my butt out and run. So I did. So far I've managed to get 93.9 miles under my belt this month. Hmmm, do I shoot for 100?August has never been my favorite month. It marks the end of summer. Kids are going back to school, summer vacations are done. It's a reminder that seasons are about to change. So I made this August a positive month. I won first in my age/gender for the first time, beat the year challenge, and ran more miles then ever. I leave August with 101 miles. Have a safe and happy holiday weekend everyone!!24 years ago this month, I wore this dress (it wasn't stained back then 😳) as a bridesmaid in my brother's wedding. I just had t ok try it on, and had wiggle room! Lol. It was fun reminiscing and finding this treasure at my parents today!Bittersweet signs of change are here. Cooler temp today yet still muggy. Got some miles in this .or I g to keep me in shape for my next half marathon in less.than 2 weeks. I do not feel prepared, but I'll get through it.My area is in a flash flood and tornado watch tonight with projected 4+ inches of rain tonight. Sooo, I had to bring my run indoors. I must say I feel my running is getting stronger and I might even have energy to kayak on a flash flood later tonight! 🤣🏃♀️🚣♀️Tonight's protein packed dinner. Atlantic cod and my new favorite, broccoli & cheese veggie tots.Today I planned my training run to mimick next week's half, which is on a bike trail. So it's going to flat, flat, flat. Our local bike trail is out in the country with wildlife galore, so yes, I did take some pepper spray with, but doubt it would have done much good if I came face to face with a cougar or bear. Thankfully I didn't have to find out. #GetOutside #autumnrunningisthebestI believe I'm addicted to staying active and singing up for races. I just signed up for my first race of 2019. This will be my 4th half marathon. #oopsIdiditagainTonight's menu: baby meatloaves, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Comfort food within reason and budget.Last night I got a little walk in to settle my nerves and caught the sunset. Race jitters are real!Tomorrow I run for suicide awareness and prevention. I asked my friends for any names of loved ones who fell to suicide that hey wanted me to run in honor of. I added those names to my race bib. I hope they keep me humbled.
#suicideawareness #suicidepreventionI've been neglecting Stella lately with all of my running, so tonight after I put my kayaks in storage, Stella and I went on an adventure. It was a beautiful transition of seasons today.
#GetOutsideWe likely won't see too many more mid 70° days here. So, I placed up and waddled along 4 miles through town on some really sore, tired and heavy legs. It was definitely worth the wincing.Needed sunglasses when I left for my run and came home in the dark. 6:55 sunsets are.depressing, but at least it was a beautiful night for some fresh air and working out the last of heaviness in my legs. Feels great to be alive and healthy!
#gotoutsideI pledged to myself that I will get back to consistency this month. Consistency in tracking my food and strength training on top of my running. 2 days into the month and 10 miles slayed and worked on core tonight. Side planks take some concentration! Keep working on those goals peeps!!I got almost 10,000 steps in waitressing and supporting the Brewers tonight at our church dinner! I don't feel so bad for not having time to get a work out in after all!Today was a bit of a struggle from the get go. Stressful work demands made finding motivation for my Monday run difficult. It took everything in me mentally to push through all 7 miles, but I did it. I had to keep reminding myself of my goals. And then when I checked my challenge stats, it made all of that mental block worth pushing through. Pushing through our challenges is what makes us who we are.A great reminder when you find yourself struggling! After taking a few days to heal a little injury I got back in the game today. I wanted to go further, but I know better than to push my luck. And the unseasonably cold temps and flooded river drove me to the treadmill.I had to take advantage of the last bit of Indian Summer this afternoon. The sunshine felt amazing! Still dealing with a bit of piriformis issues, but it felt good to get outside again!Tonight I triumphantly completed my 800 miles of running this year with a 7 miler. My anxiety has been in full force the last couple of days, and what was meant to be a 3.5 mile run tonight, I just had to keep going to 7. (Thanks anxiety!) On top of that, I now have $800 in my #runjar. Am I going to stop because I completed the challenge? Oh, heck no! Next goal 1000 miles. It is totally doable!!
Hope ever one had a productive, happy, fun, and safe weekend!Hi guys! Trina here just checking in and seeing that everyone is still killing it! I have been too, I'm 20 miles away from 1000 for the year. 2018 has been a great year for me. The new me has allowed me to let my guard down and try new things and push myself harder. I'll be modeling Mother-of-the-Bride/Groom dresses again in January, which is great incentive to not over indulge over the holidays. I get to model Dresses A, C and D below. I never thought 95 lbs ago I would ever wear a size 4! Today I ran my 1,000th mile for the year. As some of you know, I have paid myself $1 for every mile I ran. Easiest, most gratifying savings plan I have EVER followed. Bring on 2019, I'm ready. Today I ran my 1,000th mile for the year. As some of you know, I have paid myself $1 for every mile I ran. Easiest, most gratifying savings plan I have EVER followed. Bring on 2019, I'm ready. I never buy myself new clothes, let alone order them on line. I am so thrilled it fits!!A little reminder for anyone struggling with whatever there goals are. Make 2019 your year. Hey guys! Well, I modeled today for the second time. This is STILL outside of my comfort zone, however I have learned that we do not grow in comfortability. We must learn to become uncomfortable in order to reach our goals. Rock on my friends! Make this your year!It is too cold to even look outside without freezing here. Thank goodness for treadmills and the local gym when it is almost noon and feels like it is -13 F.Some official photos from the Wedding Expo that I modeled at. I still can't believe that I did that!I took this picture Feb 19th, 2019 as I was heading down to see my son and celebrate his 23rd birthday. The year he was born, I was as big as a small house ( I gained SO much weight with him!) With hard work, determination, and a complete lifestyle change, I am now smaller than I was even in high school (27 years ago)!
