Today, I finally succumbed and set the ole air fryer into overdrive. Miso grilled lamb cutlet and a wee wagyu steak, sweet potato fries, roasted veggies, red cabbage miso salad and grapes for dessert. Will definitely need a long walk after dinner. On a positive note, I noticed my pants are looser. The result is fairly tasty although I was a little too light handed with the seasonings this time. Oh well, at least it's healthy. Now to devour it post haste so I can watch a movie after! Yonks ago I discovered my fave frozen pizza and it's been a freezer staple since. Dr Oetker Ristorante spinach mozzarella pizza is phenomenal. I throw in some pine nuts and sprinkle some tabasco green pepper sauce and a quick easy meal is ready. And it's only about 220 cal for a 1/4 slice. Love the samosa from this Indian vegetarian shop because it's fresh made and chock-full of spices. They only make them in the late arvo and are sold out by supper. To my surprise there was only one prawn in the entire concoction with a lot more fish cake and pork than prawns. Perhaps they mean the broth which was stunning. Definitely prawn fully rich. There was zero veggies in it so I added some Japanese chrysanthemum leaves I got from the Japan markt. So pricey but oh so yummy. Leftover roast duck, kale, goji and an egg in tomyum broth. It needed some extra heat so I dotted some garlic chilli sauce on top. This sauce is amazeballs. Got it at a food fair last year from some of the loveliest Hong Kong ladies. They were right pleased when they found out I'd lived there before and miss the food terribly. Gave me extra discounts. As I get more familiar with crocheting, I've learnt how to eat and crochet at the same time. Damn it. Damn you, multitasking gene! It was a bit salty although quite tasty. Am not terribly fond of the abalone as they were rather chewy and tasteless but the noodles were nice and springy. Luckily I'd tossed loads of cucumbers, goji and an egg so it wasn't just noodles in a nice broth. However I'm fairly sure there's quite a bit of msg in it. Sigh. I love jicama and always prep ready to eat sticks. My mum did not allow sweets growing up so my "lollies" were always sticks of carrots, celery, jicama and water melon instead. It's got no msg which is a boon, especially in a Chinese dish. Loads of spinach, minced pork, century egg, salted egg and goji. The lady told me that there is no salt either as the eggs are already salty. It's superbly tasty and a huge portion. I was full halfway through! Would definitely go back again. If I can find the shop again... I have a rather poor sense of direction. And completely different from from the green beans soup of Hong Kong. It's amazing how just the simple inclusion of coconut milk changed the entire taste and texture profile of the soup! Made a one pan roasted salmon marinated and basted in an avocado oil, red onions, garlic, ginger, dill, dijon mustard and lemon dressing. It's accompanied by asparagus, Japanese sweet potatoes and leek. Sprinkled a little grated cheddar and dinner was served. Super yums. Will have some blueberries, strawberries and tangerine for dessert then Imma gonna call it a day. Today was the day. I made blueberries and buried stuffed French toast. Liberally spread the blueberry and pomegranate preserves I'd made on orange and walnut toast, stuffed a layer of brie in there then soaked it in an egg mixture of egg, of course, cream, cinnamon, vanilla extract and a dash of maple sugar. Popped that in the oven with a water chestnut cake while I made a cuppa peppermint cinnamon hazelnut mocha.
