You may be wondering why I have a pciture of a young man and car in this blog about overcoming challenges. Well, maybe not, if you're the parent of a young adult like I am. Meet Lamar, my 19 going on 20 year old. He's the love of my life and sometimes the bane of my existence. Well, it's not that bad, but you probably understand what I mean. It has been a challenge, at times and to say the least, over the years for my son and I to see eye to eye. You see he's a Leo, the king of his jungle, he just didn't realize over the years that he was still a cub and needed my guidance. So we fought on almost everything. And fight I did, cause I'm a Gemini, so there were always two of me in the battles. Well I can now say that the my son seems to be on the right track. He's working and is planning on attending a culinary arts school this summer.
So yesterday I overcame a big challenge, it has really been stressing me out. He needed a car and I needed to help him get it. So you know whenever someone is in your pocket, it causes undo stress. Not only that, but his track record for cars has not been great in the past. He bought his first car at age 18 and completely lost his mind. He only had that car for a few months, but I know I aged a good 10 years in the same amount of time. He know seems to be on the right path so I made an investment in him and we, I, purchased him a car yesterday.
There's been a great shift in our relationship. I think that we are both growing in understanding of one another. We can only do so much as parents. All the love, care, and nuturing is just a foundation that I planted in his live. It's up to him to take that and build the life that he will ultimately lead.
Thanks for letting me share. ~ Dre
