Beefcakes at the Gym greet me with High-Five's!!!
Thursday, July 10, 2008
I originally had a hang-up joining a male/female gym full of gorgeous women and hunky men.
It was MY hang-up, not theirs.
I walked in to exercise with my eyes to the floor, afraid to make eye-contact because I thought myself as less... Less beautiful, less healthy, less fit, less knowledgeable. But I kept going, kept exercising, and the more I went, the more confident I became and the more I looked up.
When I looked up, I found familiar smiles, warm greetings and helpful assistance. People started noticing my change in physique and began making comments. Now, I walk in and they greet me warmly saying, "What's the magic number today!?!" (Meaning how much have I lost.) I tell them and these gorgeous, hunky, beefcakes smile ear-to-ear and raise their hand for a High Five. Sometimes they even dance with me!
According to this morning's scale, I've lost 48 lbs and 29.5 inches since I joined Spark People and started my weight-loss journey.
And even though I have 70 to 90 lbs still to lose, I walk into the gym with my head held high and a spring in my step -- always greeted by familiar smiles.
And a lesson learned-- who cares what I look like to them... there's some real nice eye-candy in my gym if I look up to notice!!!
