Celebrate family and friends this Thanksgiving

Sunday, November 09, 2008

Thanksgiving is just around the corner and with it the all the tempting dishes offered at Thanksgiving gatherings everywhere. I know we all worry about overindulging on all the wonderful foods served this holiday.
But, this year will be a little different for me.
I have always spent Thanksgiving Day with my parents and siblings, who all live a couple of hours away from me. Since I recently took a part time job working in retail, I will most likely have to work the day after Thanksgiving. Black Friday as they call it. The busiest day of the holiday shopping season. This will make it impossible for me to travel there and back in one day so I can be back in time for work the next day.
I am going to miss not spending the day with them. I don't get to see them as often as I would like anymore.
So remember, maybe the most important thing shouldn't be worrying about what you are eating but being thankful for having family and friends to share this holiday with you.

Have a wonderful Thanksgiving with your family and friends!

I share your feelings. When I was working retail, it was the same thing for me too. Maybe soon you'll be able to get together with your family. It is hard this time of year. Like you said, the important thing is sharing with friends and family and being thankful for that, because not everyone is fortunate enough to be able to do that.

our kids worked retail too and had the same problem that you describe...this year we are going to visit them 2 weeks early so that we can have that shared family time...maybe you can have another day too?
