Temporarily Down but not Out

Sunday, November 16, 2008

Not sure what hit me last Monday but it wasn't a pleasant experience. I was feeling kind of blah on Monday with a slight headache but by Tuesday evening, I was in the full throws of some kind of nasty illness. I spent that night alternating between lying on the bathroom floor and hugging the porcelain. It wasn't pretty. It almost felt as though I had a really bad case of food poisoning, but no one else in the house was affected.
By Wednesday morning, I was really weak and spent most of the day sleeping. I didn't want to eat anything for fear of repeating the past night. I did manage to keep down a bowl of cereal around 9pm that night.
Thursday I felt better and was able to eat without repercussions. And Friday, I went to work although my legs still felt like jello.
I hated feeling helpless like that and not being able to do the things I had planned for those days. It really bothered me that I wasn't able to do my work out on Wednesday. But, I know I couldn't have done it even if I tried.
I don't know what it was but I am still not 100 percent yet. But, I have resumed my workout schedule and only missed that one day.

I guess my point is that life does throw out obstacles for us and we have to be flexible enough to work around them.
That's a hard lesson for this girl, who really likes to stick to her schedule. emoticon I am still working on learning that lesson. Old habits die hard.

Stay well!
Have a healthy, happy week!

Hope you’re back to your old self soon. I can say first hand that it does throw you back a bit when you get sick. But the good thing is, it doesn’t last forever. Take care of yourself and soon you’ll be rearing up to start new again.
