Don't blame it on the jeans!

Friday, May 08, 2009

I went to Torrid a month ago and tried on several pairs of jeans, and they were all low rise so the only pair that fit me were the stretch kind. (Eeeewww they looked like they cost $2) So, I left the store with 1 shirt, frustrated, saying they need to continue the mid-rise style skinny jeans for "people with hips". I only "preferred" certain brands of their jeans as well, because those brands were the only ones that fit! A month later (TODAY!!) I went back to Torrid and tried on several pairs of jeans (low rise only of course) and they all fit, they looked painted on but they were comfortable and zipped and buttoned, and no muffin top!!! I bought a pair that were pull on, no zipper, no elastic waist either (ughhh i could never own elasties at age 23 lol), they were just non-negotiable jeans- either they fit or they don't! And they looked amazing! Just the boost of confidence that I needed to keep going! So I obviously can't blame it on the jeans anymore! Why would I want to - its ME thats worked so hard to get them to fit properly looolll!!

Also, I noticed that the mall for me is a trigger location. When I was headed out, stomach growling, and smelling all of the cookie aromas in the world, I wanted nothing more than to stop at Chipotle and get a burrito with chicken, rice, black beans, lettuce, tomatoes, mild salsa, extra sour cream, and extra cheese. Or to "treat" myself to a tripple dipper from Chili's with southwest eggrolls, chicken crispers, and boneless buffalo wings, sub blue cheese for honey mustard sauce. (I'm obviously no amateur in my food preferences lol) Its tradition to "eat good" after a day of shopping! But after such a good day at the mall, why on earth would I want to undo my day by splurging on such unhealthy selections? (If you always do what you've always done, you'll always get what you've always got!) So I did something different! I re-directed my thoughts to the low carb meatloaf in my fridge that I'd slaved over the day before and how it would taste just as savory with a large helping of steamed brocolli and it would satisfy my hunger without the feeling of guilt afterwards. It totally worked. (A trade-off well worth it)
I am sooo glad I did not give in TODAY! I have learned sooo many "tricks" from you guys and I put them into effect on a daily basis. Please continue to share, it's working!!!

I know all about those mall triggers...if I go past Mrs. Fields Cookies, I automatically have to stop and tie my shoe or dig for keys so I can smell them baking...hot mess indeed!!!! and they are stationed right by the entrance I use...sure I could go to another one but the store I shop at is right there anyway so I have to be around them...lol

Good job on resisting temptation...I bet that meatloaf was da bomb!!!!!!!

emoticon on your shopping trip!!!!! Keep up the good work!
