Is this the only menu you have?

I just returned from a three day trip to Maine with my in-laws, husband and son. Since we were away from home, we had to eat out at local restaurants. I was determined to try to pick healthy choices for meals and even brought a little note pad to write down what I ate.
As we visited each restaurant, it became increasingly harder to find a healthy meal. I stuck with the grilled chicken and barbecue sauce, but they always come with fries
and you always end up eating a few of those. I did discover that one restaurant in Maine, Kens, had ALL fried food, literally. The portions were HUGE and it was very difficult to make a good choice. I ordered grilled chicken again, but was horrified as the waitresses kept bringing out these huge plates of fried food to their customers. Poor America...no wonder we are unhealthy.
At breakfast on Friday, I ordered scramble eggs (they have protein) and white toast but forgot to say, "no butter"
. The meal was drenched (literally) in butter. At least my milk (they only served whole milk) was healthy. It reminded me of that scene in "My Cousin Vinny" when they order breakfast.
Anyway..what is one to do on vacation? Just allow ourselves to gain weight? What is the solution? Does anyone have any solutions for me as a trip to Long Island is a few weeks away and pizza
and bagels loom ahead of me!
