Motivation: Traffic and slow jams

3.4 miles in 31:34

I like running long straight-aways on major roads (on the sidewalk of course!). The reason is motivation. I feel like people are watching me, and so I don't wimp out and walk. If I'm already walking, fine. But I don't want people to see me stop running, and start walking. It makes me feel like a quitter!

Silly, I know. Those people don't even know me.

Today I ran a little over 30 minutes. It's been a while since I've run that far. Months, I think.

I always listen to really slow music during the middle of my run. I don't think it slows me down. I think it calms my brain, so I just zone out, running. I'm not thinking of anything really. And before I know it, I've listened to two slow songs, and I'm a mile away from where I was. "Nightshift" by the Commodores is a favorite cruising song, and anything by Colbie Caillat.

You should try to the slow jams!

I have Nightshift and Colbie in my cardio playlist as well. Really helps to focus on other things rather than how much I wish the stairmaster would break down.
