a rant about fat clothes..

Friday, August 21, 2009

ok, so I have gotten rid of 99.9% of my fat clothes. I kept 1 reminder pair of black slacks. I got rid of them simply to have more room in my closet for my new skinny clothes. lol I just figure if I get fat again, I will not want to wear my old fat clothes again because they wont be in style anynore anyway, so out they go... :-) Tossing fat clothes out does NOT insure "me" that I wont put back on the weight.Thats dependent upon my good or bad eating habits, not the clothes. Ive tossed all the fat clothes in the past and got fat again anyway. so, here's what stumps me: We tend to toss out the old fat chothes once we get thin, in hopes of NEVER fitting into them again. Yet, we keep all our skinny clothes for 20+years in hopes that we WILL fit into them again.. hmmmm thats weird, someone, please explain this to me..

Maybe, like I used to collect diet books thinking if I just "had" them, somehow I'd lose the fat. Maybe if I keep my skinny clothes........or not. No way around it, it takes work.

Whether you throw out the fat clothes in high optimism, or the skinny clothes in despair, it says such a lot about where you are in your head, doesn't it?

My ultimate fantasy is to have a wardrobe full (but not too full) of clothes that are all one size and fit, with no need to change anything except a couple of fashion items a year! Ha!

that is so right. I have clothes from high school and I am 63??? But I still have my fat clothes. Yes some days I look at them and say I should toss them . I do not want to gain what I have lost. Skinny clothes are there for a reson I try them on some days when I over eat sugar or sweets. Ok they are tight lets not do that.

hahaha, that is so funny and yet soooo true! I have tons of skinny clothes in storage. TONS.
Anyway, it is one of my main motivations to be able to fit into those items again. I was so happy and so comfortable in my body wearing them. Unlike the horrible associations I have with my fat clothes. I would get rid of all of them right now if I could. But nobody wants to see that, since I can't fit into those skinny clothes just yet.

It's funny...about two years ago I gave up on my "thin" clothes and gave them all away. Now I want them back!!! (My style hasn't changed much). Knowing how things can change with my weight, I've been reluctant to throw out my "fat" clothes, even though I really need the closet space.

I totally agree with you that the clothes are no longer in style, yet we hang on to them. I am one of those people who keeps the skinny clothes and gets rid of the fat clothes as I progress down to each size. I guess for me it's because as I gain weight, I am reluctant to buy those bigger sizes, and keep the skinny clothes hoping my weight gain is only temporary. When I do lose weight, tossing the bigger sizes is like an accomplishment, and I am hoping the weight loss is permanent. And it also feels good to quickly get rid of those "bad luck" bigger sizes-ha ha. emoticon
