I Couldn't Put the Book Down
Tuesday, September 08, 2009
I read a two volume book this weekend and another smaller book. The 2 volume had close to 2,500 pages and it was small print. Which reminded me I should make my eye appt.
The other book had normal size print.
I didn't feel good so I skipped out on two BBQ invitations and stayed home. I could not put the first two books down.
Some people may remember the mini series in the late 70s or early 80s based on the book by Herman Wauk, War and Remembrance. It starts with the bombing of Pearl Harbor and ends with the dropping of the nuclear bomb on Japan and the Holocaust survivors being released in Europe. The book before that is The Winds of War. This is the 2nd time I've read War and Remembrance. The first time was probably 26 years ago.
I just couldn't put those books down. They are so good. The 3rd book I read was My Sister Rachel by Daphne du Maurier. It was ok. I have about 10 pages left to read so I want to get home and see how it ends. It's like a gothic romance novel. She wrote Rebecca which was a motion picture many, many years ago. My favorite book of hers that probably isn't even in print anymore was The Scapegoat. At an auction I bid on a box and it was in the box. I love that book.
I probably could've exercised but I didn't. Maybe since I didn't feel good my body knew it needed the rest.
