Missing in Action
Monday, September 21, 2009
Hello, friends. I know I have been missing in action for a while now. I just need to get myself feeling healthy again before I can concentrate on anything else.
I have mostly recovered from the ear shunt surgery, although it is still sore. The doctor wants me to wait another couple of months before I start the vestibular rehab exercises, and I just went through two nights in a sleep lab where I found out that I definitely have sleep apnea! My energy level is still pretty low, but I can tell a huge difference in the Meniere's since the surgery! My balance is much better and I no longer get sick every time it rains!
Next on my list is learning to sleep using a CPAP machine. I spent last night in a sleep lab having "therapy" where they tried different masks on me and adjusted the air pressure until I no longer stopped breathing. Tomorrow morning I will see my doctor who will use the information to write a prescription for the machine, and I will probably begin to use it tomorrow night. I understand that most people take about two weeks before they are comfortable with it, so at least I have hope that I will begin to feel better soon.
I still have the benign positional vertigo, but my hope is to get all this resolved by the holidays. What a gift that would be after nearly two years of illness! God is good and He has gotten me through this so far.
Thanks to all my sparkfriends who have left comments or spark goodies on my page. You guys are the best!!
