Missing in Action

Monday, September 21, 2009

Hello, friends. I know I have been missing in action for a while now. I just need to get myself feeling healthy again before I can concentrate on anything else.

I have mostly recovered from the ear shunt surgery, although it is still sore. The doctor wants me to wait another couple of months before I start the vestibular rehab exercises, and I just went through two nights in a sleep lab where I found out that I definitely have sleep apnea! My energy level is still pretty low, but I can tell a huge difference in the Meniere's since the surgery! My balance is much better and I no longer get sick every time it rains!

Next on my list is learning to sleep using a CPAP machine. I spent last night in a sleep lab having "therapy" where they tried different masks on me and adjusted the air pressure until I no longer stopped breathing. Tomorrow morning I will see my doctor who will use the information to write a prescription for the machine, and I will probably begin to use it tomorrow night. I understand that most people take about two weeks before they are comfortable with it, so at least I have hope that I will begin to feel better soon.

I still have the benign positional vertigo, but my hope is to get all this resolved by the holidays. What a gift that would be after nearly two years of illness! God is good and He has gotten me through this so far.

Thanks to all my sparkfriends who have left comments or spark goodies on my page. You guys are the best!!

Hi Marlene, It's okay to be missing for something as important as healing and getting yourself healthy again. We've missed you and are happy to hear things are progressing in a positive direction. PTL I've been missing myself though for different reasons - swamped with gardening, canning, caring for others, and the like. Just so glad things are beginning to look up for you.

I'm so happy for you! It's great you are feeling better and can tolerate the rain...especially since we are going into winter! My mom has a CPAP machine, and when she got it, it made such a difference in her sleep and energy level, I hope it does the same for you.

Marlene, my beloved DH is on the CPAP machine for the last month. It has helped him a lot, but he is still learning how to use it. He is set fairly high on the dial to help him so that may account for the time it is taking him. However, he said that he is beginning to feel better, and just starting to realize how much of a sleep deficient he had. He feels like he is finally coming out of his fog. Praying for you and your sleep apnea.

My "Royal DH" had the test for sleep apnea right before we left for our vacation and they fit him from what he told me but we never heard from the dr. So I think that I need to make sure that my "royal secretary" gets on the ball and calls for an appt. first thing when we return---maybe, we will call a week before we return so they can go over the jist of what it is all about.
I hope this machine gives you lots of relief. So many people are using this machine now and getting better sleep that they have even more energy the next day. I hope this happens for you.
Now, this vertigo thing---we need to really start praying without ceasing for you and we have a "royal staff" of two to help out---the Queenie and her King!! Can't get better than that, right?
Marlene, you are in our daily prayers as we travel and you just keep blogging and keep everyone up on your recovery as we are here "holding you up before the Lord"!!
Have a wonderful week, my friend.

May the God of host give you peace and rest. Still praying for you I am glad that the vertigo is lessened. I have a friend here who sleeps with a CPAP. By Gods grace my asthma ...I would come close to saying I am healed. God is restorer and when he restores you no devil can touch you. go in God and he will go with you.

What challenging health problems you have faced. I pray that your caregivers will find the treatments that can help you. Being sleep deprived is emotionally and physically difficult. I understand because I have asthma and have insomnia from the medications needed for the wheezing. I pray that the Cpap machine helps you sleep like a baby and awake refreshed. I have a friend who recently was put on one and he said it was like a miracle to awake and not feel tired.
God bless you and give you strength and endurance.
