Never knew I was this strong...

Like they say.. everything happens for a reason.

There's a reason why my mother went into the hospital in July

There's a reason why she had to stay there for almost two months. It readied us and prepared us for something I never thought I was strong enough to handle..

September 14, 2009, my Mother passed away..

She's been ill for many years with kidney failure and has been getting sicker and sicker this year.. it was inevitable..

Knowing that does not make it any easier..

My sister, cousin (taken in by my mom), and I pulled together, got everything done that needed to be done before, during, and after the services..

My cousin and I are home to care for my Dad, who has Alzheimer's. I do breakfast, dinners, and weekends. My cousin gets him on and off the bus to the Adult Day Care Center, helps with the cats, the "man" stuff around the house, watches my dad when I want to go out for the night. My sister helps with cooking dinners, and does all the shopping for us.

We've pulled together like never before.. the strength between us is amazingly strong... Everything happens for a reason...

On October 10, 2009 I picked myself back up and began my workouts again. Working out is my stress release, so why wasn't I doing what I needed most at the time?!

In the time of her illness and death, I unfortunately gained 15 pounds.

Round 1 with ChaLEAN Extreme, I started at 205 lbs in May 4th, 2009.

Thankfully I didn't wait until I LITERALLY had to start all over... I went back to 197lbs.

Did my mom have to pass to show me how amazingly strong I am?

That I can do it if I just put my mind to it?

That I can handle things better than I thought I could?

That I can take care of my dad, this house, work, exercise and still be able to smile everyday... is that all because she had to leave to show me that?

People probably think that losing 80 pounds in one month was the hardest and strongest thing I've done in my life.. I'd be quick to correct them now...

RIP Mommy 4/6/1944 - 9/14/2009

Sometimes it does take situation like that to make us see how strong we are. My mother passed away this year too.

Your transformation is amazing and I'm proud of you for your consistency. Not only are you doing great with locking the fitness down but you're nutrition is pretty good too.

    Take care~

Oh sweetheart, I am so sorry to hear about your loss, but so proud to hear how strong you were and continue to be in handling it. She didn't die and show you how strong you were, she simply allowed you time to realize what she certainly already knew. I will keep you and your fam in my prayers, take care of you and yours.

I'm sorry for your loss. I lost my mother last Sept. 19, 2008 and believe me you don't know how strong you are until you have to go thru losing your mother.

The day before she died, we were in the hospital and she was telling everyone, "my daughter is the strong one". Little did she know I was not feeling strong at that time. I needed my mother to hold me and tell me everything was going to be alright.

So as you said we never know how strong we really are until...

Miss her to this day. RIP Mom!

I'm glad that in the midst of a time like you've experienced that you were able to rise above and soar. I am sorry for your loss but at the same time, I'm happy that you've gained the gift of seeing that inner strength.

My heart went out to you immediately when I read your story. The passing of your mother, and an elderly father with with alzihimers. I would have gained weight too.
But what a come back, you found an inner strength that is stronger than all of it. How amazing, I feel honored and touched that you shared so much of yourself with me and us, you are truly an excellent example of why this works for so many. You inspired hope and wisdom through your experience, Thank you. Bless you and may you continue to be strong and healthy. namaste.
