Being Thankful for what I have.....

I guess it is fitting to write this month’s blog about being Thankful. I was able to spend the week with my friends in Southern California for Thanksgiving. I really needed a friend fix and it was just that!

The next thankful item on my list is a double edge sword……I had my body fat tested in September and again today. I am at exactly the same weight and the same body fat percentage as I was then. On one hand I’m frustrated because I work out so much and have followed all the suggestions of mixing it up adding strength training etc. I track everything I eat and it’s still the same. It’s not added muscle because the test I had done measures that…..on the other hand……nothing changed!!! I didn’t gain an ounce!!! This is the first time in my life that I have lost weight and kept it off….I have been toying with my current weight since July and haven’t gained!! So for now I will take it and be thankful….doesn’t mean I won’t keep trying to reduce my body fat; I will just be thankful that I am conquering a demon that has plagued me all my life.

Health ~ I am very thankful for our family’s health ~ 2009 has been a tough year for my family. We moved up here to open up a business and had to shut is down at the beginning of the year. It had been my husband’s lifelong dream and was a huge financial blow, but through it all we have persevered. It also truly made me remember what is important in life. I have a beautiful family that is healthy and thriving. I think many of us sometimes take for granted our health. It can be taken away in an instant and no amount of money can give it back, but a healthy lifestyle can help prevent so many of the diseases that plague us today.

Sparkpeople ~ This journey has been truly incredible…I know I have said this many times, but it has changed my life……at Thanksgiving I was asked if I had had weight loss surgery or what “diet” I was on….I was able to say neither…I just found a great support system and tool to help me conquer the demon that has plagued me since childhood. No secret anything…..

There are so many other obvious things I am thankful for, but I know you came to read a blog not a book so I will leave it at that…….

Merry Christmas and I will talk to you next year!!

My running up date:

Ran Turkey Trot 10k in Dana Point California 58:22 minutes (12,000 runners were there!)

Running my first Half Marathon on February 7th in Huntington Beach CA

Great blog! Yes, you have a lot to be thankful for. I understand the struggle between wanting to lose more and yet being thankful for not gaining. It's really a great place to be. (I'm not quite there yet, but hoping to get back there!) Maybe I'll get to see you for the Half Marathon! What a milestone. I trained for one, but never ran it, so I'll 'run' vicariously with you!

Kim, Your blog was good! You know we are in the same place! nothing has changed since July for me too, but you already know that. I am also thankful for having a healthy family. Don't worry too much about the scale, It will take care of itself. continue with the St it will begin to show results. It took me almost a year before it actually began to help. I am sure that is not what you want t here, but it is reality. Its hard Work!!!!thanks for being my Spark Friend!
