Photographic proof

Tuesday, December 15, 2009

Before my wedding, I was feeling fat, ugly, and generally horrible. I forgot all about it, though, in the rush to get things done and the enjoyment of the day and the honeymoon.

And then I saw the wedding photos.

And you know what? I look gorgeous! Not fat or ugly at all. Who would have thought that photos could boost your self-esteem like that? Turns out that when I looked in the mirror, I was focusing on my flaws and not seeing the whole picture. The photos really helped with that.

That said, I still want to lose weight. But now I'm not so hard on myself, and have positive rather than negative sources of motivation. Woo hoo!

I know several beautiful gorgeous ladies who feel that way about themselves. It takes a lot to see past the cloud in front of you in order for the real beauty to shine through. Looks like you got past that dark cloud. We definitely all are too hard on ourselves. Glad you have let up on that.

Keep on with your program and take it one day at a time. Good luck on your goals.

I have often wanted to clone myself, just so I can view my physical body from an outward perspective... I think that taking photos does just that!

Looking in a mirror allows us to internalize things without a lot of time to rationalize them... and this is often when the negatives overshadow the positives!

Take your time when looking in the mirror and you WILL see the good too!!!

PS... I think it is very hard for a bride to look horrible on her special day! I am sure you dazzled your guests and looed absolutely radiant!

I've always held that most people need more positive reasons to improve themselves than negative. Folks should want to get in shape because they feel good about themselves instead of because they feel bad.

Bravo, this is why I tell people to use real photos on sparks- the mirror can lie but many times the camera can do us justice..
