trying this whole sparkpeople blogging thing...

Not sure how much blogging I'm going to be doing, but figured I would give this a try. I have been a SparkPeople member for quite some time, but seriously started back with it in November of last year. I was mostly just tracking eating for November and December, and started really working on getting the fitness minutes in at the beginning of January. So far, I have lost around 17 pounds. My first "big goal" is my 10%, or approximately 34 pounds--so I'm halfway there! :)

    I've been on social networking sites before, but I never got into the whole blogging thing until I joined Sparkpeople. I thought no one would care what I had to say anyway...but on Sparkpeople, people really do seem to be interested, probably because we're all going through the same kinds of things as we all try to get ourselves healthy. So far, whenever I've written a blog, I've gotten at least a couple of responses, which is most encouraging.

    You should try joining more groups too, and getting active on the message boards, if you haven't already done that. My favorite part of Sparkpeople is meeting people who are supportive of my goals and who I can encourage as well...in fact, I think commenting on other peoples' blogs is just as beneficial to me as writing my own blog, not only because being able to help and encourage others makes me feel great, but because it also gets me thinking and feeling better equipped to deal with my own issues when they arise.

    I love blogs! Both mine and other people's. It lets me express ideas with people who understand what I'm going through and it lets me get to know how other people deal with their weight loss journey. It's one of my favourite features of sparkpeople. As useful as the nutrition and fitness trackers are, I think it's the blogging that will keep me coming back to sparkpeople in the long run.

    Good for you! 17 pounds is awesome! Maybe I will write my 1st blog soon, too! :) My weight loss has been at a standstill. I'm hoping using the SP tools faithfully will help me figure out what is wrong nad get me back on track.

    I find blogging and journaling helps. I don't always blog online, but I faithfully journal everyday.

    I admire your courage. I too have been a "lurker" reading other people's blogs and not writing my own. So, I especially liked yours. I also started seriously in November-December. Good job at losing weight. I am building muscle and the weight loss is slower. Keep up the great work.
