SPARKANNIVERSARY - Year 1

Tuesday, February 02, 2010

Well, I am back again, it was a pretty bad fall off. Back in November, pressure at work got worse and worse, travel more and more, and I simply gave up the fight. I decided I couldn't do it all.

Well, I didn't gain much even with giving up my running. I'd get up in the morning, look at the treadmill over there, and still just get ready and leave for work.

In December, I had the same thing going. Flew more than 30,000 miles (with only one Pacific crossing), and ended up getting to go home for Christmas and see my kids.

Then, a couple weeks ago, as I am getting myself pulled together, finally drinking my water again, starting to work on portion control, and have a goal to start running again. WHAMMO!!!

My company decides to restructure and lets me go just like that. As in, don't let the door.....

So, here I am, IN CHINA, no job, and a tight job market like it is in the US. I can't afford to live here, I have a mortgage in the US, but feel like leaving isn't right either.

Well anyway, I decided I would do what I could do. The Lord knows me, he loves me, and he knows my needs, and that if I am to stay here, it will be HIS will. If not, we pack up, move home, and look for something in the US.

Because of that, I decided to start my unemployed life by getting back in the saddle. So I gave myself two to three days to have a pity party, and the last week, I went back to work.

Unfortunately, I did have a little weight gain over Christmas and the past few weeks. I ended up giving back 15# and as of yesterday (my sparkanniversary) I was 321.3 and ended up only showing about 20# loss on Sparkpeople and about 28.7# overall since Jan 1, 2009.

Anyway, there are a couple of job prospects that have come up, following through, and hoping that the time works out. Everything in the Lord's time.

Keep the faith friends!

So glad to see you posting again. As one of the few men in our cohort, you stand out, so it's noticable when you're gone. Sorry to hear about the job stress and the job loss. Hope one of the prospects turns out well for you. I know you would have liked to have NOT seen your weight go up over the holidays, but hey, there's still less of you than there was last year. One day at a time!
