I went jogging -- fer real!

Wednesday, February 03, 2010

I had knee problems the last time I tried jogging (pre-thyroid medicine). I set a weight goal to start jogging and I'm there (on the home scale, ticker is the MD scale, 5 lbs heavier). I have been doing the beginner running training but the last two days, 30 minutes of a kick-boxing video. I had it in my plan to get in the runner-training and or jog on Wednesday as there is more time for it in my schedule.

Today, I was dealing with my illustrator, first anticipating conflict and shaking, then meeting with him (shaking), thinking we had got past the conflict and then he pulls his crap and I'm ready to fire him--- he changed his tune. (and the work continues, but I'm not really willing to go through this demand for money to fix a continuity issue for a third time . . . )

It looked bleak for me to get in exercise today. I used the excuse that Florida was cold (I know, 49=50 degrees is nothing). I started dealing with the illustration issues. Eating was a little whack with a preference for small portions-- but carb portions ---- and afternoon upset(illustrator meeting) ---- but then I did it! The 5 p.m. Florida weather was gorgeous and in the low 60's.

10 minute walk, 10 minutes of alternating 30 seconds jog and 30 seconds walk, then 40 minutes of slow but continuous jogging with a 10 minute cool down walk and a stretch. Yes! 562 calorie burn!

Yea! Good for you. You might enjoy learning about chi running. I started it last fall and I love it. It teaches you how to run without putting so much stress on your body and it is meditative because you place so much focus on your breath. There is a chi running and walking group on Spark and there are several books and websites. Danny Dreyer (I will double check) is the creator of chi running. Keep it up... you will be surprised how quickly you will be running miles.

    Good job!!!!!

And what are you working on with the illustrator? As an art teacher, I'm always interested in art-related stuff.
