How to be persistent?

Saturday, February 06, 2010

•Holding on even if you feel like quitting: override emotions.

•Keep your goal in sight: If you don't visualize your reward, what will push you on against your emotions and personal comfort to accomplish anything?

•Don’t ignore small situations: Be persistent when doing even small tasks. This will be reflected in your behavior and your personality when you face bigger situations.

•Be flexible: Don't keep pushing against a wall!

•Be Confident: If you are confident you will reach your goal but if you don't have confidence in your abilities you won't be able to become persistent.

When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high
And you want to smile, but have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit-
Rest if you must, but do not quit.
Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are
It may be near when it seems so far;
So stick to the fight when you're hardest hit-
It's when things go wrong that you must not quit.

Persistence paid off for me this week with the loss of 2 pounds! I was extremely sad for the loss of my friends husband, exhausted, stressed and at times pushed beyond the point of blowing my cork! But I came home and exercised and instead of finding excuses on not following through with my exercise program I told myself all the reasons why I SHOULD!!!
IT WORKED and I am very proud of myself!

This week I dub myself RUTH THE CONQUEROR !!

    Thanks for a great blog! It was the perfect thing for me to read tonight. We have a cat with Lupus that has been ill for a year. He spent six weeks in the hospital recovering from surgical complications and he has only been home two weeks. He stopped eating again. I am scared we are going to lose him this time. My hubby just took him back to the vet hospital tonight. This kind of stress has pushed me to eat in the past. If you can deal with the loss of your friends husband and stick to your plans & goals then so can I. Thanks for sharing.
