My inspiration

Wednesday, February 17, 2010

I have many people that inspire me to my fitness best. My husband is very dedicated to fitness and has been known to arise at 4 am to workout. My Mom is also dedicated to fitness and will push herself to greater fitness levels than even her body realizes it can go. For this blog entry, I chose to discuss my beautiful sister-in-law Christine.

I met Christine one spring day in 1996 and she was outgoing and pleasant. She always made me feel welcome into her family. She was my Matron of Honor and was stunning in her red dress. We actually have pictures of the Limo drivers admiring her.

Recently, Christine has begun a fitness routine that reminds me of the contestants on "The Biggest Loser". She works out with a creative and unique trainer and I look forward to always hearing what the trainer had her do during each session. I admire Christine's fortitude and dedication. She, like her brother, will focus on a task at hand and get it done. She wanted to lose weight and nothing will stop her. I feel myself lumbering along emoticon without any real focus, but Christine has focus and that is one thing I admire.

Christine is my inspiration and I hope to catch up to her fitness level one day. For now...when I don't feel like working out emoticon, I think of her on her treadmill at 6 am emoticon and try to follow her lead.

Thanks Christine for the inspiration!

Isn't it amazing, what goes around comes around. Who inspires us is inspired by you. It seems to be a universal truth that when you pick someone up, you can't help but to give yourself that same lift as well. Great blog! I enjoyed reading both sides.

Focus and direction really helps a lot and it is great that you recognize it in your SIL.
There's also nothing wrong with being a tortoise --it means you are disciplined and keep going and don't give up (also a great skill!) and it is clear from her post that she learns a lot from you too. How blessed you both are! Thanks for sharing.

Christie, I enjoyed reading your inspiring blog, as well as Christine's reply. (Can't help but wonder if your extended family members get tongue-tied with your names being similar!) ;)

I love my sister-in-law. I call her Little Sis. I must say that I am extremely flattered that she took the time to write a blog about how I inspire her, but she is way too hard on herself. It is she that inspires me. Our two lives couldn't be more different at this point in time - she is raising a small child, juggling a demanding full-time job outside of the home, taking care of 3 pets, one of which is quite elderly and needs a great deal of care, and doing everything else she needs to do to take care of her home and family. I see her posts and the hour at which they were made and I say to myself, how does she do it? Staying up late to hem pants, or cross stitch a gift for someone, prepare for the next days workload, and then through it all try to fit in time for herself, which she always leaves last on the list. Yet she never ignores a friend, always answers an email, and offers encouragement and kind words to those around her. It is she that inspires, not me. My life is totally different and she should not compare the two right now. I have no more children in the house, and I live a lifestyle where I have finally been able to carve out and prioritize time for me. Even at this stage in my life it is hard to do that - and I don't have the immediate needs of children to attend to. And truth be told, when I am with my trainer, I truly look forward to a new challenge because my beautiful Little Sis is always so excited to hear about it. She has inspired me to want to do some very hard exercises! So my dear, it is really you that is the inspiration. Love you lots! Big Sis

emoticon You are the most determined person I have ever known. When you put your mind to do something, it GETS done. I know that because I have known you forever.
Eating right and being committed to a fitness program is more than just doing it. It comes from the heart and how you feel about yourself. I know you are bravely dealing with issues that could destroy a person's self-concept at this time. However, you are so much more than those folks could even imagine. Focus on who you really are and on that deep strength that is within you. Go forward looking ahead at that completely fit person that you want to be.
You have a lot on your plate right now, but remember just a little is better than not doing anything at all. You are so like me, an all or nothing, person. We will both learn that one step forward is one step closer to reaching our goals. emoticon

It is wonderful that you have the inspiration right there in your family, it is hard to avoid doing what you know is right with them there to remind you constantly.
