A Tribute to my Sister-in-law Barb
Saturday, February 20, 2010
Today my heart is laden with sorrow as we have just gotten word this morning that my sister-in-law Barb passed away last night after years of struggling with emphysema. As a person with Asthma myself, I know what it is like to struggle for oxygen and know the fear that every breath I fight for could be my last. This lady did this everyday for several years and was on oxygen and a constant supply of steroids to keep her going. I just can't begin to tell you how traumatic it is to go through this yet Barb stayed positive and up beat through it all. I admired her with all my heart and soul because I am not sure I could have been that brave. Barb always managed a smile and a joke and always worried about others around her. She was one of the most giving and unselfish people that I knew.
I remember when my brother-in-law brought her to our home and I first met her. She was a very tiny little lady with a heart the size of Texas. They met through a singles ad in a local electric company and I guess that was an "electric" meeting indeed as they were married shortly after their initial meeting. My brother-in-law said that he had met his soul mate and she felt the same way. They loved riding motorcycles and spent many days riding with the sun and wind in their faces. They were so good for each other and so happy together!
We are saddened by this event that we all knew would come someday but in my heart I know she is resting easy and every breath she is taking in heaven today is without labor. Knowing that helps to put my sorrow at ease and I know the Lord will see to it that her days in heaven will be good and she will finally find peace.
Please take a few minutes of silent prayer for Barb and for my brother-in-law who is suffering from the biggest loss in his life.
Thank you my dearest spark friends for taking the time to read this and for your loyal support. I am forever grateful to all of you and I thank God each and every day that I share with you all!! God bless!
Peace be with you our precious Barb!
