Girls day out....

Sunday, March 14, 2010

Yesterday my daughter and I had a shopping day out as many of you know by reading my status. We wanted to get the kids a new bassinet because the one they used with their first one was borrowed. So we sprang for a new one of their own for our Grandson-to-be coming in May...somewhere around the 13th(via C section)

So here is the bassinet we bought them:

The mobile on this bassinet has a night light, music, twinkle lights and the lambs move around..it also has a vibrating mode. It can sit on casters or the casters can flip up and allows the bed to rock. To bad they don't make something like this in adult size huh?
Then I had some weak moments on some newborn clothing...here is one of the outfits I bought:

I also got him a newborn pair of bibbed overalls with a little striped onesie to go under it and couple of other cute things. So it was a fun day and got me out of these 4 walls for a while which was badly needed.
So then I came home and thought I better take a picture of my new clan:

Jill is very prolific as she had 8 this trip around...none of them are underloved let me tell ya.
Then I caught Opie our Jack Russells having a cute moment...notice the beads of water on his muzzle where the snow melted. He is a 4 legged snow plow.

We took a drive down by the Des Moines river which is out of it banks in a very large way and wouldn't ya know....I forgot my darn camera!!! Missed pictures of Trumpeter Swans, Eagles and all kinds of neat nature shots. I will try harder next time to remember the camera so I could share those shots with my friends here.
Seems like a very short weekend...certainly not ready to head back to work tomorrow that is for sure!!
Amy....I thank you for being there for me!! I didn't want you to worry so I decided I would put a blog up so you knew I was ok!! Your a dear lady!
Little by little I think I am dragging myself out of the slump I have been in...helps to have the sun shine and this rotten snow melting. It will still take another week or two before all this crap is gone but it is on its way out and I sure won't miss it.
Love to all of ya!!

Oh Ruth, that bassinet is just beautiful!! And what a cute outfit too. More Degu babies??? OMG, she popped out 8 more? They are SO adorable - I'd have a hard time letting them go, but at the rate they're going, you'll be up to 50 little Degu babies in no time at all!

So glad you had a fun weekend with your daughter getting ready for the new grandbaby. Love the stuff you got and the picture of the new litter too! You are such a fun person -love to read what you have to say. Our snow is now gone gone gone but go figure, for some reason I froze to death all weekend. It was gray, rainy and drizzly and just the kind of chill that gets in your bones. The temps were not as cold as January but don't tell my body that- I'm STILL freezing this morning. Not sure why. I think I need a good quick walk to get the blood flowing. Happy Monday / Happy week and think Spring!

Ruth, spring is on it's way. This weekend was from one corner of IA diagonal to the other corner. From Fri to Sun saw a big difference in the landscape. Today saw less dirty snow, animals out enjoying the sun, some kids out on their dirt bikes and bikers on the hwy. Started the day with some fog and ended with weather too nice to be cooped-up in a vehicle for 6 hours.

If the weather stays like this and our rivers behave, our moods have a big chance of getting better. Have yourself a good week.

Very pretty bassinet! You must have had so much fun picking it out. May is just around the corner, and soon you will be holding your new grandchild and breathing in the wonderful aroma of new baby. Winter and your long commutes will be a distant memory.

Who are those babies in your clan? Gerbils? Squirrels? They are darling.

I definitely want a bed like that! What a nice Grandma!!! I'm so happy that you got out of the cabin a bit. You sound a lot better. I see Jack and Jill are still sharing the coed dorm!
Enjoy the sunshine and here's to light at the end of the tunnel! emoticon

Sounds like you had a great weekend, Ruth! You deserved it after all the JUNK you've been through! LOVED the little outfit. Very nice bassinet as well. I'll just tell you that if you had your camera along, you wouldn't have seen the swans, eagles, etc--We saw a HUGE bald eagle on our way home from church a couple weeks ago but didn't have a camera with us. We've had it in the car ever since and have not seen it! Darn! Take care!

That bassinet is absolutely gorgeous and very high tech, lol. They never had things like that when I was a kid.

What nice pics! Sounds like a lot of fun, your little shopping spree. One of my favorite things to do is buy stuff for my grandkids ( esp the little one) Will be shopping for a highchair tomorrow. Are those baby squirrels???? How adorable!!!!
Take care. Hopefully the sun will overpower the clouds real soon! I need it, too!!!
