1st race of the year!

I think I just agreed to do a 5k with a friend from high school that I havent seen since we graduated!! I just had a passing thought....there are several friends from high school who are now runners....hmmmm looks like I may just have to put out a facebook message and see how many I can gather for this race.
I am nervous about this though...I have had issues with my back and the nerve being pinched. I just got my green light to go back outside to run but only 1.5 miles every other day but doc said he would rather it be every 2 days. I can do all the treadmill runs I want, as long as I'm not in pain. I may have to do more training on the tm than pavement. Which I guess is fine, atleast I'm able to run.
The race is June 9th...gives me time to get it back. In the last few weeks when I've ran almost 4 miles its taken me 40 to 45 minutes...not goooood at all. My pace last year I was doing almost 6 in that same time frame. BUT this year has been a total differet race. I've put weight back on...almost 10 pounds from last June...I'm still boncing around with that, down 2 up 4! I think my scale is just jacked up, in fact I got so sick of it the other day I nearly chucked it out the window! I tossed it in the closet where it will remain. Then theres my laundry list of injuries...Knee issues in August-Novemeber, surgery in mid Novemeber, recovery, winter, ran on the snow/ice (which it dawned on me I may have injured my back during on of those runs) cause in Jan. is when i started having all my back pain down to my side of the leg down to the toes. Had x-rays done that showed my screwed up disk and how my nerve is being pinched. Was going to chrio 2-3 times a week for about a month, then it became twice a week, now I'm done to once a week and this past Friday I am now offically every 2 wks and was given the okay to run outdoors but only that 1.5 miles (I know I said above I was running 4 miles) I have and doc was NOT happy so I did stop with the 4 mile runs besides he was right....it caused some setbacks.
Needless to say it just feels good to be running, to be outside. If I have to do any of these runs indoors on the tm I will take it in stride
