Oh My Gawd!

Thursday, May 06, 2010

So for a challenge I am on, we ware suppose to write a blog titled "Oh My Gawd" about your "ah-ha" moment.

While I don't really know what to write... I think what brought here way back when was my desire to lose weight and feel better about myself--like most people. I've always lacked motivation and never seem to follow through with anything I start.

For those of you that are friends with me on might be aware of my recent drama in my life. On Sunday, my boyfriend of SEVEN years broke up with me. It really is probably for the best..but it's hard to see it that way right now..especially when his mom called me tonight crying because she's so upset over this. Steven would always encourage me to lose weight..but then make comments saying that I'll never do it cause I'm too lazy. While that might motivate SOME doesn't me. Now that we're not together anymore, I want to show him that I can do this more than him what he's missing out on.

so.. not really sure if that's an "ah-ha" moment -- but since I'm suppose to do this once a day for the challenge week..I'm sure I'll come up with more later.

Sorry about the split. I am kind of there too. I have had a lot of people tell me over the last 5 years to "focus on myself" and I never really understood it...kind of like "duh, obviously I am trying to make myself happy, I'm in LOVE."

I think I recently came to understand that focusing on myself isn't the "duh that's obvious" moment, it's more about clearing away the cobwebs and understanding what I need, when I need it. It's seeing that sometimes, the thing I DON'T want is what I need to do to put the focus back on myself.

Sarah, I'm really sorry to hear about you & your boyfriend. My ex (also of 7 years) used to play the same kind of head games that Steven did. One thing I finally learned - don't let anyone tell you what you can or cannot do. You are so much stronger than he gives you credit for. While showing him up would be fun (it is!), I hope you lose the weight for your own beautiful self!

Sarah...I completely forgot about the comments he would make until I read this, I remember you saying it before but for some reason it slipped my mind. I hate that things happend the way they did, but eventually you will turn this negative into a positive and you will be just fine. You will find someone better for you and more supportive of you in everything you do. Hang in there and, again, Im here for you if you need me. love ya chicklet!

I know this is tough, but you are right to see it as an opportunity to take care of yourself. And maybe make him regret his stupidity..... emoticon

Sarah ... you already know how I feel. The Duck loves you and is right here with you.

And, what an "ah-ha moment" this is! While it is sad that you spent 7 years with this guy and the fact that his family loved you as well ... his comments toward your weight loss were less than motivating. I am with the others here when I say, let's show him just how beautiful and svelte you can be.

And ... beautiful ... you are!

Sorry about the breakup but yes you can show him you're ernest about losing. You can show him you don't need him to lose any weight. You do however have lots of friends on spark people that can motivate you.

That's exactly what I did to my ex-husband - lost a ton of weight and was looking hot. That guy is a loser and you will find someone who is worthy of your pretty little self - don't worry - you're still plenty young. NOW GO FOR IT!

Wow, that is really rough! Tell you what..I'm from TX, borrow the phrase "don't mess with TX" or make up it for you..and don't let anyone ever mess with you again!

I'm sorry about the breakup - even if it is for the best, I can imagine it is super rough.

I know how tempting it is to use someone else as the focus - I once joined a gym after I got dumped and when the office worker asked why I was joining I said "because my boyfriend found a new girlfriend and now I want to look hotter so he's jealous!" But it didn't work and six years later I'm still trying to get in shape and be healthy.

Be healthy and happy for yourself, not someone else. I have faith in you!!!!

    Good luck!!!!
