Whole Foods Update

Thursday, June 10, 2010

So, the whole foods challenge has come and gone, and I did stick to my plan as written below 100%. emoticon

I noticed something, though. Although I went over my upper calorie limit quite a few days last week, I still lost almost 4 pounds by the end of the week. Apparently I can eat more food when it's as close to its natural state as possible than when it is processed. Good to know! I think my body digests healthier food a lot faster and more efficiently than processed stuff.

I've noticed this, too, CJ. When I'm eating clean, whole foods, I have trouble meeting my minimum requirements on the nutrition tracker. But I believe I'm getting better nutrition than I do when I eat junk, and meet my nutrition tracker goals. Not only that, I feel satisfied pretty much all the time - no wild cravings, no mood swings, no swollen hands and feet, no headaches, no bloating. Good Lord! Why am I not eating like this all the time???

P.S. I've been "lurking" on some vegetarian and vegan sites, and I've read many comments about the protein goal being too high on the nutrition tracker. I will use the tracker as a guide, now, but not as the final word!

Well done! Dr. Hyman would agree with your observation. He writes about it in his books and talks about it on his podcasts. Congrats on the 4 lbs! emoticon

That was an excellent weight loss, and you may be onto something about the body able to process the food better.

WAY TO GO! I Wish I had a magic fairy that would come in and just do all whole foods in my house. But My family is not going to buy into it! And I am too tempted on my own!
But you give me hope! I will keep trying!!!
