Seeing progress...this is a big deal.

Let's just start this off by saying that I am not a runner. Never have been. Net ever in my life. I was always a cyclist. That being said, I have started running. I started because I need the exercise to lose weight and, to be blunt, it is free. I don't need anything I don't already have. I own a pair of running shoes and clothes. Clothes are important. Naked running is frowned on in most public places.
Today, for the first time, I completed 5km all the way through. No run, walk run. All the way through, running. This is a big deal for me. It may be because I have lost a few pounds so I am carrying less or it may mean I am actually getting into better shape. I would like to believe the latter.
I need progress in my fitness level to continue doing it. If I don't see progress, I get discouraged.
I would like to work my way up to running 10km by the end of the summer. Find a run, sign up and train for it. That would be big for me.
