Dear Blog

I took my first aquasize class. I had no idea what to expect and never did a water exercise class, ok so I never did ANY exercise class before in my life! I tend to just work out on my own in my solitude at my own pace.

The class is at our local pool, is for 45 minutes, and only costs $2.00 a class. That's right only $2!!! They are having it twice a week for the next 4 weeks. I saw it advertised and while I'm not a participating type person I thought I should at least try it and you get to splash around in water on a hot day!

I had a fun time!!!!!!! You don't have to sign up in advance so the class is with who ever shows up and we had 8 women for the first class of the summer season. We went through a warm up, some aerobic type movements and strength exercises in water and then stretching and cool down at the end. It was really nice and I enjoyed a different workout from my gazelle, elliptical trainer and walking. Everyone was really nice and while some of them apparently knew each other they welcomed me warmly to the group. I'm really looking forward to the next class!

I thought it would be a piece of cake, I've been working out pretty steady since January and I thought really how hard of a workout can it be in water for 45 mintes? I was surprised and we used "water fans" to give resistance in bicep curls and other strength exercise moves. I think this will really be a bonus to my other workouts and it's some summer fun as well!

This was certainly outside my comfort zone and nothing I would have done before i started my journey to lose 50 pounds and I'm proud of myself for doing it! It has actually encouraged me to look outside my house for other community activities to get exercise!
