Eating, Praying, and Loving at SparkPeople

Saturday, August 07, 2010

I am so excited because our Fierce, Fabulous and Unstoppable Spark Warrior Team has started a Warrior Book Club and our first featured book is Elizabeth Gilbert's Eat, Pray, Love, which I hear is an incredibly awesome read that takes you on quite a journey.

The movie is scheduled to come out on August 13th, and as a treat to us Book Clubbers, we thought it would be a great idea, as a reward for all our hard sparking, to treat ourselves to the movie after we finish the great read and compare/contrast the two in our Warrior Book Club Thread.

This couldn't come at a better time for me, since my motivation has been tested by life lately, and I've been searching for something to greatly inspire me.

The title alone speaks to some elements of life that are universal to all of us, elements that I feel have been enhanced and strengthened in my life since I joined SparkPeople, where I've learned that eating is a good thing and that food is to be savored and enjoyed; where my prayer of finding a solution to my obesity continues to be answered; where I've rediscovered not only the art of loving myself, but the gift of friendship and the joy of loving others; and where I've embarked on a journey of a lifetime and an adventure that I'll never forget and am eternally grateful for.

So if the spirit moves you and you'd like to share in some inspiration, feel free to visit our Warrior Book Club Thread... We'd love to have you join us!

    Hi there!

I read the book and found it life-changing. It's the kind of book that you want to actually OWN, and if you loan it to someone else, you make darn sure that you get it back from them! Don't know about the movie, because it would be hard to equal Elizabeth Gilbert's wonderful writing, but I want to see it eventually.

I'm gonna check out your warrior team, too!

I read the book and also saw the movie - loved them both.

So glad to hear your team has a book thread. I love to read and am now finishing up an Amish Trilogy by Beverly Lewis. It's got a lot of history in it so am enjoying that as I have always been fascinated by the Amish and the Mennonite People.

The next book on my list and waiting on my night stand is -
The Pajama Girls of Lambert Square by Rosina Lippi.

Nice to stop by and say Hi.

    Hugs, Sunny

What fun! I will have to think about getting that book and joining in; I love to read, just don't have enough hours in the day for everything.

Sounds like fun...wish there were more hours in a day so that I had time to read more, but my nightstand is filled already....may have to add that to the list of "coming attractions".
