Preparing a goodbye!!

Where has the time gone?,
over 7 years ago we decided to become Foster carers, our 1st placement was a scrappy little fella who was so wild it was unbelievable, he ate with his hands and he just RAN everywhere, he shouted, he threw things, and he hated everyone,! he came to us as an emergency case {previous placement broke down!} he should have been with us for a week, but 7years on he`s still here,
Jay has complex learning disabilities, behavoural problems and is on the Autism spectrum, things have been rough but now he goes to college, we eat out in restaurants, he is helpful around the house and his manners are lovely,,, hes extremely settled and even calls me Mum, on Thursday of last week we received a call saying a place has been found for him and he leaves us next Thursday, we`ve tried to arrange for him to stay longer and prepare him so he will understand, but the decision is final,, so now we have to find the best way of saying "goodbye"!!! whether we had a week or 6 weeks i know it`d be equally hard, so wish me luck cos the week ahead is going to be rough for him, we knew this day would come but, it doesn`t make it any easier,,,, emoticon

First time I came upon your page. I am sorry you have to part from your beloved foster child. I have 3 adopted chilldren-now all grown up, one passed last year from brain tumor. Am raising 3 grandchildren-one with ADHD , anger problems, and facing life changes (he is 16 now). one almost 21 with fibromyalgia, social anxiety, and hateful thoughts about herself. Know somewhat about the problems you face. How old is he now?

Would like to become your friend.

Will he be living close by? Close enough that you can check in with each other on a regular basis? I know you're worried, but just reflect on all the positive changes you've created in his life! I'm sure he is very grateful for the stability and nurturing of the lovely home life that you provided for him. Keep in touch, and let me know how it goes...and as always, tell Jack "Hi"!

SO sorry--I can't imagine how you OR your foster son are expected to deal with such a sudden transition. I can certainly see where it would be heartbreaking.

I'll lift you up in prayer.

I'm sorry to hear you are being forced to make such a transition. It will most definitely be hard on you as well as him. I hope everything goes well and hopefully you will still be able to be in each others' lives. I will keep you in my thoughts this week!
