emoticon Well, its been a long few months with many hospital stays along the way, but it feels great to be back. I have new challenges I have to face. I have what is called gastroparesis (my digestive system is paralyzed). Therefore, I have several restrictions. I have to eat 6 mini meals a day with only 1200 calories a day. Each meal should consist of around only 200 calories each because my stomach cannot digest large portions. This is really driving me crazy!!! If anyone reads this & has any suggestions then please let me know. Oh, and no raw veggies or fruits!!! They must be cooked.

Hang in, kid, you can do it! It's gotta be hard, I cannot imagine. That's one reason I never did the stomach surgery route. I do small meals during the day (old type 2 diabetic days) but it's more habit now. I don't know where I'd be without fresh fruit or veggies. It sounds crazy, but what about spiced up baby food. Portion control, variety today. I'll be interested to see what people come up with. It's so hard doing things yourself after the hosp. Can you get help? emoticon emoticon emoticon

Perhaps being refered to a diabetic nutrionalist would help. They are familiar with small meals and 6 meals a day. They could help you stay in the range. Talk to your Dr. about this.

Oh my goodness that would be so difficultto eat 1200 calories for me,I have a hard time staying in my 1500 calorie range.I actually do better by eating smaller 6 meals a day, instead and I seem to eat closer to my calorie range as well. For advice, you could talk to your doctor about a Dietician helping you plan your meals and do a daily food planner and that way you know what you can eat for that day.Planning ahead seems like the best advice I can give you.I will be most interested in what you do and what works for you.Best wishes and I know emoticon .Hugs,Diana emoticon
