I HAVE TO MOVE MORE

Wednesday, September 01, 2010

I am keeping great records of my food and very rarely go above my recommended calorie intake. However I still am not losing weight. Monday (my weigh in day) I actually gained 3 pounds. My husband told me that he knew I was committed because I was honest about the gain and tracked it instead of waiting til next week to weigh in. I want to do it right.

I know my problem is exercise.

If I am going to do it I want to do it all the way.

Goal for September
emoticon Hit the gym 5 days a week

emoticon Hiking or gardening at least twice a week

emoticon Drinking eight glasses of water a day. This is my biggest challenge.

I do not want to part way succeed or part way fail. I'm all in.

    Exercise is the key.

Walking doesn't cost anything assuming you already have some shoes.

Get in your car and drive a mile down the road. Note were you are, then start walking to that point and back...a nice 2 mile walk to get started. Then after a few weeks stretch it out to a 3 mile walk, 4 miles, 5 miles total.

Do that 4-5 times a week and you will notice the weight dropping.

I have dropped 80 lbs over 2.5 years by walking. I have been cutting back on purpose this past week, but for the most part I have averaged about 28 miles a week since mid March. On March 13th I weighed 227. On my weigh in yesterday I was 197...30 lbs in 5 or so months.

I added in 150 push-ups every other day, but those don't really help to lose weight, they just help firm up the upper body and core.

I am pretty proud I can knock out 3 sets of 50 push-ups....not bad for a old guy.

Thanks for the water reminder. I always seem to fall down starting there... and then it gets worse.

In the daily spark yesterday day or today - it was mentioned that one of the experts doesn't allow herself any other kind of drink (juice or soda etc..) until she has reached her water goal for the day. You might give that a try!!!

Sorry to hear about the weight gain but you certainly have the right attitude. New Chapter is correct, take the water with you to the gym and you will knock out your 8 glasses with ease. Best of luck to you!

I would suggest, at least for the water, to buy a container that holds a 32 oz or more of water. I have a 32oz water bottle and I sip on it ALL day and know I need to get through 2 of those a day to hit 8 8oz glasses. Especially if you take it to the gym, then I bet you will hit your water in no time! lol I'm working on increasing my exercise as well.
