Back From a Mini Vacation

Tuesday, September 07, 2010

Last week I didn't know where i would go for the weekend.
Thought the coast would be nice. Here in the Pacific Northwest we call the beach the coast.
Just as in the northeast it's called going to the shore. When I lived in Florida and California it was the beach. But here we go to the coast to stay at the beach house. Go figure.!!
The weather report said possible cloudy, drizzle at the coast. So I though why go over there and miss out on the lovely sunny weather here in the valley. I can always go over in the stormy weather that we will get soon enough. I love to be at the coast during a storm, to see the waves break on the beach, hear the wind whistle around the house. build a fire in the fireplace, cuddle up in the big overstuffed arm chair , have a cup of tea and a good book and I am as happy as can be. When the storm lets up, go out and check the beach to see what might have washed ashore.
I had cleaned the house everything was done. i could never leave and come home to any kind of a mess. So I just had to decide where to go.
My daughter called to see if I wanted to drive down to Medford for my grandson, football game. But that's a long drive and I had not made any arrangements for Titan. And if they decided to stay over night, he would be alone. Can't do that.
I decided to stay home and just do whatever I wanted to do for the four day holiday weekend.
Friday I went shopping, bought some clothes. Shopped at the produce market. The regular market. Stopped by the gym, did some unexpected exercises. Looked for a new bike.
I had a most relaxing day.
I took Titan to the doggie day care , so he had fun too.
I got home and started watching the US Open tennis games. I would watch tennis all four days. So much tennis and It's still all this week. So I'm not done watching.
The golf FedEx tournament was playing too , so I watched on the big screen in the living room, it has a split screen so I could keep up with both..
Watching tennis on a big screen is really better than being there in person.
I continued to check in everyday and track my food and exercises, but that's about all I did.
I was happy that I had lost weight and was now in the 230's. Slow but sure I'm getting there.
By the time Monday rolled around I was well rested, got 8 hours of sleep every night.
I had some cabin fever, I was tired of tennis, I need to get out of the house.
One of my favorite players lost his match so I said enough.
Got dressed and hit the road. Went shopping again. Found more clothes. Looked at the bike that I will probably end up buying. Then I went to the gym. Stayed about 3 hours. Really worked out . The more I work out the more weight I lose.
Now I feel sort of like i neglected my Spark friends. I usually log on. spin, food track, exercise track, check others goals, check teams, huddle. That's where I get sidetracked. I start to read blogs and discussions, start to leave comments and time gets away from me.
So on my self imposed mini vacation I decided to limit my contact. I also stayed away from my jewelery work table. If I was going to be on vacation I had to go all the way.
I like to vacation at home. It's nice to sleep in my own bed. I don't have to pack and un- pack.
I don't have to pack up all Titans things and drag them to where ever we are going. Packing for him is like having a baby . He has so much that has to be taken. It's also easier choosing foods to eat from my own supplies. I don't mind cooking. If I had gone to the coast I would have cooked there too. Plus would have had to restock up on food.
I had a wonderful restful weekend. I could get used to long weekends. I'm all for four day weeks. I might suggest that to the guys, work longer four days, off for three. With hunting season coming they might go for that.
Getting back to work today was easy. I feel rested and stress free so its been a breeze.
I was sitting in the office today, heard a funny sound, I pulled the blinds and low and behold it was pouring down rain. It's been some time since the valley has seen rain like that.
But I promised Titan a trip out so we go bundled up. He has a rain coat. Also has a motorcycle leather vest, so cute. We went out. Ended up going to the store, and running errands. I had to dry his little wet feet . I need to get him boots. Smile!!
It's getting dark, its time to wrap this rambling blog up. Besides I need to eat dinner.
I feel like I'll be back in the swing of things in a few days. Will not neglect my Spark friends
anytime soon.
We don't have another four day holiday till Thanksgiving. That might have to change. Smile!!
Here's a thought to ponder. "What great thing would you attempt if you knew you could not fail?" Robert Schuller

I didn't know they had doggie day care centers. Our dogs take care of themselves - either sleep or play together. Also, some companies were using four 10 hour days for a week, and we had a 5-4 -9 schedule, where you worked five 9 hour days one week and three the next, then one 8 hour day, and then had a three day weekend. It didn't do the engineers and managers much good, but the rest of the crowd loved it.

Sounds like a terrific weekend. I absolutely love rain - and even storms as long as they're not too violent. And as for sleeping in your own bed - I'm getting ready to climb into mine for the first time in 9 nights!

great blog..and what fun you had right at home. And as you say,no bed is ever so soft as your own...or feels as comfy.....*grin* :0 glad that you had such a great time on your mini vacation.....and I can totally relate to time getting away from me when I am on here, Sparking.....*grin* so that I have had to cut way back the past few days myself, not due to a mini vacation, but to continuing problems with my feet and legs.

emoticon emoticon emoticon To celebrate your being back from your mini vacation ,well rested and raring to go......*grin* :)

Boy, that's quite the question! I will assume that world peace is not feasible and that this is for just me... emoticon
I guess my answer would simply be to live a good and happy life.
Sounds like that is what you were doing this weekend!
