So how did I do...

So...I had a birthday dinner last evening...at a buffet nonetheless! Yikes!!! But I had a plan going into it already set in my head... I think it is fair to report that I stuck to the plan ... until I got to the end of the meal. My original plan was to stick with veggies and protein. So when I got there...I got my plate and headed to the salad bar. I made a delicious salad full of all the right stuff. Then I got some steak and all the sides that went with it were veggies of some sort. Yes, I know that cooked cabbage at a buffet is not exactly the same caloric intake as it would be if I made it at home...but it was a better choice than mashed potatoes and gravy or mac & cheese...I picked brocolli, carrots, etc...no cheese sauce... And then the end of the meal came. If only I would have stopped but I didn't. I got a small spoonful of apple cobbler and a small serving of soft serve ice cream. I broke my promise to myself...veggies and protein... But, in retrospect...I could have done much worse. The nice thing I recognized exactly what I was doing and I controlled my indulgence. Immediately when I got home...I changed into my walking clothes and got in 2.5 miles. There was nothing more I could do. I am not beating myself up...I made the choice and then I made a choice to try and counteract my indulgence. I mean after all...it is life...and sometimes a small serving of apple cobbler just comes your way. Back on track today.

    Diana, Sounds like you did GREAT girl.....oh and Happy Birthday. Miss you, things have been crazy this year and I have no real good reason that I've slipped off the wagon completely. I admire that you are sticking with your plan and doing great things. We should all get together soon and catch up. Have an awesome day!
