It is hard to believe....

Friday, September 17, 2010

My youngest is turning 18 in October and is graduating in May 2011. She is graduating from high school and also with a associates in psychology. I am so proud of her! We had meeting yesterday at school and we saw the cap and gowns with cords and sashes. Well she also has let her dad and I know she wants to go to Harvard! My baby all the way across the country! We are in Texas. We thought she was going to go to UT at Austin but she is filling out all the papers for Harvard. Her first try at the SAT was outstanding. She is taking it again to even boost scores more. Wow where does time go! My other daughter is graduating with a Bachelors in Special Education but she stayed the at the university here. She will be teaching special ed next year. Seems like just yesterday when they started kindergarten! This is going to be hard to let the youngest one go! I know I am a truly blessed mom with the children I have! It is hard to believe the time has come to let them spread their wings and fly!

My daughter will graduate high school in four years, I know it will go by fast. I am already dreading the letting go part, but the posts here made me feel better. You let me know I am not alone, and that we have done a good job with our kids. Thanks!

Its interesting. When aussies think of uni for US kids they always assume that you all go away to go to uni and that your parents have to pay for it. Here in Australia, most kids go to the local uni and the governemnt pays for the fees. Kids also get an allowance from the government to live its called Austudy (abit like a welfare payment without it being welfare). Harvard-I assume its not easy to get in so she will be one lucky girl! I bet she has worked hard for it. WTG for instilling such ambition! Cleva xxx

Our children are on loan to us to nuture and love and then they leave to live their lives. The best part is that we continue to be part of their lives as we watch them blossom. You have done a great job.

Whew - takes me back a few years. It's hard, but we raised them to leave us. Sounds like you gave her a great foundation. Now it's time for mom!! How's the weightloss going? Wishing you success!!
